HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT ROAD MAINTENANCE NOTICE

The Town Highway Department will be performing oil and stone road maintenance on June 5 on the following roads:

  • Case Lake Entrance
  • Kingsbury Hill Road
  • Holland Road
  • Healy Road
  • Maple Avenue (Village)

Motorists should expect short delays throughout the day. Each road section is anticipated to be closed for approximately 30 minutes while work is being completed.

Please use caution when traveling through work areas and watch for highway personnel and equipment. Due to staffing limitations, the Town is unable to station flaggers at both ends of each work zone. Highway crew members will provide directions to motorists as they approach active work areas.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to maintain and improve our roads. Please drive safely and help keep our crews safe.

Help Keep Case Lake Beautiful

As we head into the summer season, we would like to remind visitors that Case Lake is a carry-in, carry-out park.

Please help keep this beautiful community resource clean by taking all trash, food containers, fishing line, and other personal items with you when you leave. Litter not only affects the appearance of the park but can also harm wildlife and create additional maintenance costs for taxpayers.

We would also like to remind visitors that the portable restrooms are intended for restroom use only and should not be used for the disposal of garbage or other waste. Improper disposal of waste in these facilities creates health and safety concerns for service personnel and jeopardizes the Town's ability to maintain restroom service under our current contract.

By cleaning up after ourselves and properly disposing of waste, we can all do our part to keep Case Lake safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone who visits.

Thank you for helping us protect and preserve this valuable community resource.

Local Law Review Update

The Town's Law Review Committee continues to work on updates to several local laws.

Recent discussions have focused on proposed revisions to the Town's Solar Energy Law and the development of a Short-Term Rental Law. The committee has completed its latest review of both proposals, and recommended changes have been made.

The proposed Solar Energy Law will next be reviewed by the Town Attorney before being referred to the Cattaraugus County Planning Board for review.

The proposed Short-Term Rental Law has also undergone revisions and will be reviewed by the Town Attorney prior to referral to the Cattaraugus County Planning Board.

The Town Board hopes to schedule public hearings on both proposed local laws within the next several weeks. Public hearing notices will be published and posted once dates have been established.

We appreciate the time and effort of the committee members and community members who have volunteered to assist with the review process and encourage residents to participate when the public hearings are scheduled.

As summer construction season gets underway, residents are reminded to contact the Town's Code Enforcement and Zoning Office before beginning many home improvement and construction projects.

Projects that may require permits or zoning review include:

• Decks and porches

• Garages and sheds

• Home additions

• Swimming pools

• Fences

• Solar installations

• New businesses or changes in property use

Zoning and permit reviews help protect property owners by ensuring projects are constructed safely and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. They also help protect neighboring property owners by addressing setbacks, drainage, access, safety concerns, and other potential impacts before construction begins.

If you are considering a project and are unsure what approvals may be needed, please contact the Code Enforcement Officer before beginning work. A brief conversation upfront can help avoid delays, unnecessary expenses, and potential compliance issues later.

Code Enforcement Office Hours:

Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM (unless otherwise posted)

Phone: 716-701-4441

As Memorial Day has passed, I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank our Cemetery Workers, Todd Hanson, Dwight Hebdon, and Donte Long, as well as Scott and Andrea Stanbro and their children, and Town Councilman Terry McClory and his Wife Tracey for their tremendous effort in preparing our cemeteries for the holiday.

This year, we faced an unexpected challenge when we found ourselves short-handed and working under a very tight timeline. Despite those obstacles, everyone came together, pitched in where needed, and ensured that our cemeteries were cleaned, maintained, and ready to honor the veterans and loved ones who rest there.

Their dedication, teamwork, and willingness to step up when needed is something our community can be proud of. Because of their hard work, our cemeteries looked beautiful and provided a fitting place of remembrance for Memorial Day services and visits.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. Your efforts did not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.
