MISSION: Genesee County Prevention Coalition (GCPC) executes innovative strategies and unites communities in preventing substance misuse and promoting mental wellness throughout Genesee County.
The Genesee County Prevention Coalition maintains regular office hours Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. If you need assistance outside of these hours, please call 810-285-9047 to make arrangements. Our primary goal is to maintain access to prevention services and resources for our community through the Prevention Portal. Please reach out to us if we can be of assistance in providing information and support for addressing substance misuse and mental health concerns.

Welcome Our New Prevention Specialist, Jacinta!
Please join us in welcoming our newest team member, Jacinta Logan! Holding more than six years of experience as an HIV/AIDS Case Manager and master's in public health administration, Jacinta is passionate about advocacy, allyship, program development, and connecting people to the resources they need. She values meeting people where they are and communicating effectively with diverse communities to create meaningful impact. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her two dogs, Milo and Bayley. We are excited to have her experience, compassion, and dedication to service on our team.

Join for an informative webinar examining the relative benefits and risks of kratom-derived products. This session will provide an overview of natural leaf kratom, mitragynine extracts, and isolated synthetic compounds (7-OH, mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15/16), compare their pharmacologic profiles with traditional opioids, review available clinical and anecdotal data on potential risks and benefits, and discuss regulatory strategies aimed at reducing public health harms while preserving access to natural leaf kratom.

Insights & Approaches To Reduce The Stigma of Substance Use

This interactive session explores the roots, impact, and consequences of stigma surrounding substance use, with a focus on fostering empathy, understanding, and effective approaches to reduce bias. Participants will gain insights into how stigma affects individuals, families, and communities, and will learn practical strategies to create supportive, nonjudgmental environments in behavioral health, workplace, and community settings.

Co-Occurring Disorders/Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment 201
July 14| 9am-4:15 pm
Within this training, attendees will develop knowledge of specific interventions in some of the more focused elements of IDDT and ACT fidelity, including an extended understanding of the interplay of co-occurring disorder, a more detailed review of core principles, motivational interventions, stage-wised planning and interventions, the addiction cycle, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) interventions, group treatment, alcohol and drug self-help groups, pharmacological treatment, and Interventions to promote health.
