Dear Center for Irish Music supporters,
June is here! Summer term is around the corner, the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend kicks off next Thursday, and several of our ensembles are out and about playing in the community this weekend!
This Friday, June 5th, our Advanced Youth Ensemble (AYE) will be performing as part of Breizh Fest, a celebration of Breton culture. Since the Midwest Fleadh, our students have been learning Breton dance music from local accordion, scholar and educator Bob Walser and will play them at the fest! You can check out the full program and get tickets here.
This Sunday, our Adult ensembles An Luan and Open Sky, as well as the AYE, will perform out front of Moloney’s Irish Imports as part of Grand Ol’ Day festivities on Grand Ave in St. Paul.
We're busy gearing up for the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend, kicking off next Thursday, June 11th! Visit our Instagram or Facebook pages or our Artists Bios webpage to get a preview of this year’s artist lineup. The absolute best way to get to know our visiting artists is to sign up for their workshops, interviews, or lectures and buy tickets to the weekend's public events.
A reminder that Summer term starts next Monday, June 8th, so don’t forget to register! While you’re at it, check out our youth summer camp offerings - we still have room. This month's newsletter features Adrienne O'Shea's half-day summer camp happening in the end of July...details below!
See you soon,
Norah Rendell
