May 2026 Highlights

Celebrating Global Sound at World Music Day

Music, movement, and community filled the Museum during our World Music Day celebration. From hands-on instrument making and percussion workshops to joyful performances in Mill Pond Park, families explored the rhythms, melodies, and cultural traditions that make the Bronx such a vibrant and creative community.

We’re grateful to the artists, performers, and families who helped transform the Museum into a joyful celebration of global sound, creativity, and connection.

Support for this program was provided by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and through a Cultural Immigrant Initiative grant from New York City Council Member Elsie Encarnacion.

Tea, Stories & Community:

A Special AANHPI Month Celebration

As part of our continued celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Museum welcomed families for a special edition of Cooking by the Book in partnership with Tea Arts & Culture.

Children and caregivers gathered for an interactive tea party experience filled with storytelling, creativity, and cultural exploration. A highlight of the afternoon was a special reading of Luli and the Language of Tea led by the book’s illustrator, Hyewon Yum.

Through tea, art, and shared stories, families explored themes of friendship, language, and connection — reminding us of the power of cultural traditions to bring communities together across the Bronx and beyond.

Give the gift of learning and play all year long. Family Memberships provide unlimited free admission for a full year. Available in three levels, for up to 2 Adults and 4 Children.
