Creating Kid-Friendly, Balanced Meals That Support the ADHD Brain

"After-school meltdowns, anger or tears that seem to come out of nowhere, irritability, lack of focus, and restless sleep… struggles that are all too real for parents of kids with ADHD. 


When a child’s nutrition is suboptimal or they aren’t eating balanced meals, it can set off a cascade of effects in the body. This contributes to nutrient depletion, increased inflammation, gut health challenges, and blood sugar instability, all of which can influence the severity of their ADHD symptoms."

From School to Summer: Transitions, Stealth Learning and Summer Camps

Are you eagerly anticipating summer with your kids or secretly dreading having them at home all day whining about being bored or trying to keep them off their screens? Relieved that school is finally over but already worrying about learning loss?

Uneasy about sending them to about summer camp while you're working because last year, you got called to pick them up early due to behaviour issues?


Rescue is at hand! Our Network Education Action Team has addressed the three most pressing questions parents have about transitioning to summer, learning loss and summer camps with insights and actionable ideas.

Choosing the right camp for your child is a decision that can make or break your child’s summer experience. Camp should be the nurturing place where children enjoy the outdoors, form new friendships, take risks, and experience new activities and adventures. 

 

LDEdmonton focuses on:

  • Highly trained staff with skills specific to working with this population
  • Lower staff to participant ratio than most camps
  • Understanding of the special needs of youth 
  • Individualized attention with focus on recognizing and developing each campers unique gifts and strengths
  • Wrapped into every program is emphasis on developing organizational skills, social skills, and life skills set in a fun environment 


The Camp Abilities program is structured for kids ages 8-12yrs and youth 13-17yrs who are struggling at making and keeping friends and interacting with their peers.

Our groups specialize in children with ADHD, ASD, Tourette's and Learning Disabilities.

Since last month, when the survey went live, more than 20 individuals have also shared their workplace disclosure stories. None of them have been stress-free, and some were downright disheartening to read. But the experiences and tips have been invaluable.
