June 2026
Lower Providence Library News!
| | |
Hello Friends! Happy June!
Where did May go? It feels like just yesterday I was talking about May-cember survival, blinked, and it's June! June means it is officially summer, and we all know that means SUMMER READING!
This year's summer reading starts on Monday, June 15, and will run through Friday, August 7, 2026. We have a lot of great programming lined up for patrons of all ages this year, and are so excited for everyone to join us!
Like previous years, our reading challenges for children, teens, and adults are all hosted on our Beanstack page.
This month, the Friends of the Library will also host a $5.00 bag sale, starting on Saturday, June 20, 2026. If you are spending your summer days at the pool or planning an out-of-town vacation, the $5.00 bag sale is a great way to stock up on books you don't have to worry about: they can get wet, get lost, or be forgotten without fines or replacement costs. All proceeds from the Friends of the Library directly benefit the Lower Providence Community Library!
At the beginning of May, I set a small TBR for myself, including Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout, The God of the Woods by Liz Moore, Flesh by David Szalay, and East of Eden by John Steinbeck. I am here to report that I got to two out of four books, Olive Kitteridge and The God of the Woods, but was able to listen to two additional Audiobooks this month, The Compound by Aisling Rawle and Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston. I loved both of these audiobooks and cannot recommend them enough. If you love fast-paced mystery thrillers, then these are for you!
For June, I hope to return to my roots and pick up some new Rom Coms, including The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez (a favorite author) and Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan (a new-to-me author, who is BLOWING UP right now!).
Thank you all for your continued support and patronage of the
Lower Providence Community Library!
Happy reading, and see you at the library!
Marija Skoog, Library Director
