Moon Gate Unveiled at Green Spring Gardens!

The ceremonial unveiling of the Moon Gate at Green Spring Gardens celebrated a landmark that symbolizes connection, reflection, and community.

This project is the result of planners, horticulturalists, maintenance crews, volunteers, partners and supporters working together to create something lasting for the public.

You are invited to visit Green Spring Gardens and experience this beautiful new space for yourself!

Event speakers included Mason District Supervisor Andres Jimenez, FCPA Executive Director Jai Cole, Park Authority Board Member Rick Healy, and Park Foundation Board Chair Laura Eakin Erlacher, pictured.

"At the Park Foundation, we often see firsthand how philanthropy can transform public spaces in meaningful ways. Every contribution helps preserve and enhance the parks, trails, gardens, educational programs and natural resources that make Fairfax County such a special place to live," said Laura Eakin Erlacher. "Anyone who feels inspired by this unveiling, I encourage you to consider how your own support could help create the next lasting legacy in our parks."

Notable Moon Gate Benefactors

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recently presented a proclamation honoring the 100th Anniversary of The Garden Club of Fairfax.

Former FCPF Board Secretary, Robin Walker, was instrumental in sharing her pro-bono graphic design and promotional expertise over 7 years during the Park Foundation's Moon Gate Garden project fundraising campaign. Now serving as President of The Garden Club of Fairfax, which is rooted in history, growing with purpose, and committed to nurturing Fairfax County - it's gardens, its landmarks, and its shared public spaces for generations to come.

"Since 1926, the Garden Club of Fairfax has worked to promote civic beauty, conservation, horticulture, floral design, and environmental stewardship throughout our community," states Robin. "We are especially proud to support this beautiful project - a treasured public garden that inspires visitors through education, nature and beauty. We hope that this Moon Gate Garden will become a place of peace, reflection, learning, and joy for all who pass through it!"

"The Park Foundation extends appreciation to The Garden Club of Fairfax for supporting this and other FCPA projects," says FCPF Executive Director, Bobbi Longworth. "Congratulations to the generations of Club members who devoted countless volunteer hours to preserving and enhancing places like Green Spring Gardens. We look forward to continued beautification beyond this impressive Centennial Year!"

Sincere appreciation is extended from FCPF to Arlene Evans and Barry Dewberry, who will be included in a future newsletter, and all Moon Gate benefactors who made this special feature a reality at FCPA's Green Spring Gardens!

Family and friends of individuals who inspired memorial donations traveled from New England and southern states. They gathered in honor their loved ones who are remembered through this lasting and meaningful project!
