A Family for ME Informational Session

A Family for ME (Fostering) Informational Session will be held on Saturday, June 13th from 10-11 please register on our website or call. This session will explore the current need for resource families and help you understand who may be a good fit for fostering. They will also walk you through all the steps required to become a licensed resource home. Feel free to bring a snack and come ready to learn, ask questions, and engage in important community conversation. 


A Conversation with Caitlin Shetterly

Join us for a Conversation with Caitlin Shetterly, author of Pete and Alice in Maine (Sam’s book group book) on Wednesday, June 17th at 5:30 in the community room. She'll speak about her newest book, The Gulf of Lions - her journey through breast cancer, France, and family. The book will be available to purchase and be autographed at the event. 


Blues 101 with Ramblin' Dan Stevens

Learn about the Blues with Ramblin’ Dan on Wednesday, June 24th at 5:30 in the community room. Blues 101 is an entertaining, educational program tracing the history of blues music from its roots in African American traditions of the deep south to the present. This multimedia presentation features classic blues performed on vintage instruments alongside historical images and video. 


From the Director

I’m thrilled to announce what is shaping up to be our Summer of Music. In addition to our much-loved Music on the Patio series — lunchtime concerts every Friday beginning June 26 — our June, July, and August Music After Hours series begins June 12. This concert runs from 6:30–8:30 pm and coincides with the Art Walk, making for beautiful evenings under the summer sky. A big thank you to Partners Bank for sponsoring this music series!


Another update for you: Are you a CloudLibrary audiobook or e-book user? We’ve begun purchasing additional copies of our own high-demand titles so that even if the statewide wait times are long, our copies will put you first in line. Our collection is small right now, but it will continue to grow as we shift more of our purchasing power to digital. If you haven’t used CloudLibrary before, ask us about it — we’re happy to walk you through.

Children's Programs


Weekly Programs


Mondays (starting June 22)

Baby Rhyme Time at 10am & 11am. Babies under 3 and their grown-ups meet together with Miss Sheila for 20 minutes of rhymes, fingerplays, songs, movement, and board books.


Lego Builders Club at 3:30pm in the Children’s Room. We provide the Legos and the challenge. Your creations will be on display for the whole week!


Thursdays (starting June 18)

Sensory Story Time at 10am for ages 3-6 and their caregivers incorporates a visual schedule and sensory activities to support neurodiversity.


Monthly Programs


Make-it/Take-it Craft on Wednesday, June 11th come by the Children's Room any time between 2-5pm to make a special craft! June is Chia heads!


Special Programs


Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals on Wednesday, June 24th at 2:30pm. Lindsay brings her puppet pals for a show filled with silliness, active audience engagement, and memorable characters. Recommended for ages 3-12.


Plant a Seed, Read begins on Monday, June 15th! There are two ways to play: you can count books or count minutes. Read books from the library or from home. When you earn 5 stickers on your gameboard, you can pick up your prize book and a planting kit. The children’s program is for ages 2-12.


Teen Programs


Monster Flowers Teen Summer Reading Program for grades 6-12. Track the time you read to earn books, raffle tickets, and Monster Flower cards! Volunteer opportunities are available!


Beaded Flower Craft on Thursday, June 25th at 2pm.

Adult Programs


Weekly Programs


Knit Lits meets on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30pm in the Williams Reading Room. All fiber artists are welcome.


Cribbage meets on Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00pm in the Williams Reading Room. Everyone who wants to play is invited to join!


The Springvale Dulcimers meet on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:45pm and are currently welcoming new and beginner players and singers. They play and sing hymns and traditional folk songs on Mountain Dulcimers in a simple style.



Monthly Programs


Cook the Book meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30. The group will be meeting on June 9th to cook their way through The Stay at Home Chef's Family Favorites Cookbook. (This program is currently full. Please call or visit the library to be added to the waitlist.)


Sam’s Book Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm in the community room. On Wednesday, June 3rd we will be discussing Pete and Alice in Maine by Caitlin Shetterly. (Don't forget to stop in and meet her on the 17th!)


The Writers Group meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 11am. Join us in the William’s Reading Room for an hour of creative writing. The newly formed group is welcoming new members. Bring along some of your writing to get feedback and find inspiration.

Spice of the Month


The June Spice of the Month is... Lavender! Let me guess what you're thinking. Lavender, Sam, really? Yup! Lavender has lots of uses in cuisine, both savory and sweet. It's also the key ingredient in Herbes de Provence. Lavender tea is good for GERD and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Make this month's recipe, and maybe have a cuppa tea with it! Check out this month’s recipe online or at the main desk: Lavender Bread. Either way, stop by the Library and pick up some lavender from our Spice Library. Enjoy!
