Greetings!

This month brings transitions both for APsA and for many of us as we head into the summer season. As the pace shifts towards a season of rest and vacations (or baseball games and family bbq's for some of us!), I've gathered key highlights here so you can stay in the know from wherever you are.

First, I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond to the membership survey deployed by the Membership Department. Your responses will help us take steps to improve your experience and we couldn't do that without your input.

APsA is welcoming new leadership this month as Dan Prezant steps down and Bonnie Buchele steps into the role of President. We invite you to join our Town Hall next Sunday, 6/14, to learn more about the transition and the exciting work that has been accomplished over the past two years.

Before you turn on your out of office: don't miss the Summer Symposium on June 13, register if you haven't yet. And check out a new educational offering just added to APsA Online Courses, "Neuroqueering the Psychoanalytic Lens."

• The June 2026 Town Hall titled "Leadership Changes" is coming up next weekend on Sunday, June 14. Don't miss this monthly opportunity to connect with APsA leadership. Register today! You can also find more about the leadership change and the work that was accomplished over the last two years with President Dan Prezant on the Association Listserv.

• A new course has been added to APsA Online Courses! If you missed the announcement, APsA is now offering self-paced on-demand education for CME/CE credits. This new course titled "Neuroqueering the Psychoanalytic Lens" is a recording from a session at the 114th Annual Meeting. The recording offers CME/CE credits and explores the intersection of queerness, neurodiversity, and psychoanalytic practice.

• APsA's Annual Meeting has been sunsetted and will now be presented as the APsA Summer Symposium. We invite you to join us Saturday, June 13 with moderator Jane G Tillman, PhD to examine declining engagement with psychoanalytic institutes, including financial barriers, training experiences, the changing and/or unclear mission of psychoanalytic organizations/institutes, generational differences, and institute culture. • We are pleased to announce that the application portal 2027 Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Teachers' Academy is now open. The purpose of the academy is to help participants become more effective and engaged in the transmission of psychoanalytic ideas within training programs. Learn more.

In the latest episode published last week, Dr. Gail Saltz speaks with psychoanalyst Dr. Gila Ashtor about what she calls “feeling disorders”—experiences like gaslighting, empty consent, and toxic relationships that reflect a deeper difficulty in accessing and trusting one’s own emotional life.

The conversation focuses on how psychoanalytic work helps people reconnect with their feelings and build a more vivid, internally grounded sense of self.
