COVID-19 Regulations on Face Coverings and Physical Distancing for Workers
Cal/OSHA, the state regulatory agency for workplace safety, approved new workplace rules on June 17 that allows most fully vaccinated workers in many workplaces to stop wearing masks and ends physical distancing requirements for all workers.
Governor Gavin Newsom signed on June 17, 2021 an executive order enabling the revisions to take effect without the normal 10-day review period by the Office of Administrative Law – providing clarity and consistency for employers and employees as California fully reopens its economy.
➡ Employers may allow fully vaccinated employees not to wear face coverings indoors but must document their vaccination status. Workers may self-attest to having been vaccinated.
➡ Unvaccinated employees still must wear masks indoors except when alone in a room or vehicle or when eating or drinking.
➡ Workplaces would be required to provide masks to workers who are not fully vaccinated and ensure that they wear them when they are indoors or in vehicles. Nothing prevents employers from implementing additional protective measures than are required, including the use of masks and physical distancing.
Contra Costa County will align and follow the Cal-OSHA guidance; the health officer will not be imposing and additional restrictions.
Businesses seeking assistance to provide N95 respirators for unvaccinated employees as required by the revised Emergency Temporary Standards can find distribution locations for state-provided N95 respirators here.
|
|
Places Where Everyone, Regardless of Vaccination Status Must Still Wear a Mask
- Public transit (examples: airplanes, ships, ferries, trains, subways, buses, taxis, and ride-shares)
- K-12 schools, childcare facilities, and other youth settings (indoors)
- Healthcare settings (including long-term care facilities)
- Homeless shelters, emergency shelters, and cooling centers
- Correctional facilities and detention centers
- Businesses that choose to require masks for all customers
- Fully vaccinated people may also choose to continue to wear face coverings if that makes them more comfortable
- Travelers: follow CDC recommendations and CDPH Travel Advisory
- Vaccine verification/negative COVID-19 test: required for indoor mega-events (5000+ attendees) and recommended for outdoor mega-events (10,000+ attendees). The State of California is supposed to be coming out with a verification system soon.

Who's Ready for some Live Music?
Music (and bar) in Lafayette’s Plaza Park – Tuesday, June 22. Music 5pm-7:30pm.
The Taste of Lafayette is sold out, but there is no reason to stay at home on Tuesday night, June 22. Part of the fun will be on full view for the community.
There will be at least six musical acts around town, entertaining near some of the restaurants on display. Consider getting a dinner–to–go and bring it on down to Plaza Park. Pack some lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy a free summer evening concert.
The Tuneriders will be playing 60’s and 70’s covers. Duane Campbell, Rick Abbott and local musician Ken Cooper have played here before at the Art & Wine Festival. The Chamber will have a wine and beer bar in the Plaza. Please join us for a night out.

Contra Costa begins new mobile COVID-19 vaccine service
* Businesses and community organizations can now request visits from Contra Costa Health Services’ (CCHS) mobile COVID-19 vaccination van to workplaces, community centers and other locations where five or more members of a group want to receive vaccine.
* This service operates weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will only travel to locations within the county, though they will vaccinate anyone eligible regardless of where they live.
* There is no cap on the number of people who can be vaccinated during a visit.
* The state’s pandemic health orders will sunset on June 15, allowing fully vaccinated people to visit businesses and enjoy communal activities without the need for face masks or physical distancing. Visit the CCHS Beyond the Blueprint page https://www.coronavirus.cchealth.org/beyond-the-blueprint for details.
* But the health guidelines for people who are not vaccinated will remain largely unchanged – now is a great time to consider a safe, effective COVID-19 vaccine if you have not already gotten one.

General Plan Update: The Time to Speak Up is Now
Tell the GPAC what you think by submitting your thoughts, ideas, questions, and comments on the General Plan public engagement website https://engagelafayette.org.
A good plan is like a road map: it shows the destination and the various routes to get there. After 50+ years, Lafayette is updating its mission statement and you get to speak up about which direction the City should head.
Help us plan the route and the destination by taking the mission statement survey on PlanLafayette.org!
|
|
Meet the GPAC In Person
Come meet your General Plan Advisory Committee, learn about the Housing Element and participate in the workshop activities to share your opinion on where new housing should be planned in the context of existing housing, wildfire risk, traffic congestion, school capacity, and more!. GPAC members and Planning Staff will be there to listen and answer questions. Drop in anytime between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m., on June 30, at the Lafayette Library & Learning Center, in the Don Tatzin Community Hall.
If you prefer to take part in the activities on your own time, use the online density allocation tool to decide where housing units should be focused and the opportunity sites map to tell us specifically which parcels might best accommodate new dwelling units. Use the worksheet to see some of the criteria needed for an opportunity site and place a pin on the map. These activities will remain open through July 15, 2021, but don’t wait! Tell us what you think today to help plan your tomorrow.

Regardless of the type of debt you are in – credit card, student loans, car loans or something else – it’s important to know you can get out of debt. It won’t happen overnight, but being debt-free is possible once you make a commitment and a plan.

Town Hall Theatre's Bay Area Celebration Sponsorship Opportunities
Town Hall Theatre is pleased to be LIVE again, starting with a Bay Area Celebration. This special fundraising event on July 10 at 11am at the Moraga Commons will bring Bay Area artists together through song and spoken word. The summer stage will come to life with themes of Hope, Renewal, Equity, Resilience, Home, Inclusion, and CELEBRATION. We are excited to reconnect in-person with our community as we re-introduce Town Hall Theatre.
Accompanying the performances will be the Steve Carter Trio, an East Bay Groove Funk band with a modern style rooted in the rhythm-section innovations of Tower of Power, The Headhunters, and Sly and the Family Stone.
This event is a fundraiser for Town Hall Theatre Company as we plan our return to post-COVID in-person programming and offerings in the fall at our theatre in Lafayette.
Town Hall is looking for local businesses to sponsor the event. Sponsorship opportunities are available at various levels starting at $500 and include benefits including social media mentions, placement on signage and mentions at the event.
