FOURTH SUNDAY FOOD DRIVE

We will collect non-perishable items for our neighbors through Tempe Community Action Agency this Sunday, June 25. Donations may be left on the benches at the front gate to be collected and delivered to TCAA following Sunday's services. If you're unable to bring food to donate, but would still like to contribute, please CLICK HERE to donate securely online.

MONTHLY TAIZÉ SERVICE

The next Taizé Service will be held in Fellowship Hall on Sunday, June 25 at 4pm. This is a time of quiet, meditative prayer and simple music, allowing the mystery of God to become known through the beauty of simplicity.

LIVING THE QUESTIONS

On Sundays at 8:30am, starting July 9, Pastors Jeff and Michael will be co-facilitating Living the Questions: The Wisdom of Progressive Christianity. LtQ is a small group experience where participants discuss and explore what's next for Christianity. The video-based program features 35 acclaimed scholars, theologians, and other experts, with ample time for lively conversation. The accompanying book will be available for $10. The study will be offered both in-person (in the Palo Verde Room) and via Zoom. Please email the church office at tempeoffice@dayspring-umc.org with questions or to register. Learn more

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS

Blessing of the Backpacks is Sunday, July 16. Children are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church and during the Children’s Time we will share a blessing over these backpacks and the children as they prepare for a new school year. Step Up Sunday, the day children and youth advance a Sunday school grade and regular programming resumes, is August 5.

FAMILY PROMISE

We host Family Promise, a temporary shelter for homeless families, the week starting July 23. Volunteers are needed to set up, cook, entertain, spend the night, chaperone, and tear down/reset the rooms for Sunday. We have a particular need for overnight volunteers. Email Michelle or look for a table on the patio starting July 9 to sign up or ask questions.

RACIAL JUSTICE CHALLENGE

On Juneteenth (June 19), the UMC’s General Commission on Religion and Race launched a six-week Racial Justice Prayer & Action Challenge. It's not too late to join! This year audio recordings of the prayers in English, French, Spanish, and Tagalog are included in the experience. Check out all the resources and register for RJPAC reminders (and the GCORR newsletter) HERE

RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION

Pastor Michael Long, our new associate beginning July 1, is looking for a dependable used car for sale. If you or someone you know might have any leads, please email our SPRC chair Tom Swift. Thank you!

CELEBRATING PASTOR JOEL

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is putting together a love offering to be presented to Pastor Joel as he departs Dayspring to start his ministry at St. Matthew UMC. The love offering is one of the means by which we are showing our gratitude and appreciation for Joel. If you wish to contribute, you may do so either online HERE (a special account is being established on the church website) or by writing “Joel” on the memo line of your check. Please note that contributions to this offering are not tax deductible.
