IVMA Election Results
Congratulations to our new incoming IVMA Vice President, Dr. Kristen Obbink!

Dr. Obbink was elected earlier this month and will be sworn into service at the IVMA Annual Meeting in September.

Elections were also held in June for IVMA Executive Board members in the odd-numbered districts. Three IVMA members were elected for the first time to IVMA Executive Board. Dr. Chelsea Stewart, Sheldon will serve in District 1, Dr. Christine Bean, Storm Lake will serve in District 5 and Dr. Carl Schuler, Creston will serve in District 17.

Because Dr. Obbink was a member of the IVMA Executive Board at the time of her election, a temporary replacement will be appointed by the current Executive Board to fill his position as District 10 Director. This person will serve until the June 2022 Executive Board elections when all even numbered Districts are up for election.

Congratulations Dr. Obbink and new and returning Executive Board members!

Looking for an Associate Veterinarian? Join the Networking/Job Fair
The IVMA and Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine are teaming up again in 2021 to offer a Networking/Job Fair as part of the IVMA Annual Meeting.

The IVMA/ISU CVM Networking/Job Fair will offer IVMA veterinarians the chance to meet current ISU CVM students in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. All classes of veterinary students are invited to attend, allowing students to network and build relationships with IVMA veterinarians and practice their interviewing skills.

The event will take place at ISU CVM on Thursday, September 30 during the IVMA reception, which will be held at the Commons at ISU CVM. The fair will be from 6:30-7:30 pm, leaving time for IVMA members to attend the reception if they wish.
Sign up today!

A limited number of tables will be available for IVMA members to reserve, so sign up today! There is no cost to participate for IVMA members.

New Feline End of Life Educational Toolkit
grey_cat_lying_down.jpg
The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) has released an online End of Life Educational Toolkit to provide information to help facilitate a peaceful and painless transition for a cat at the end of their life. This digital Toolkit aids veterinary professionals in preparing a well-planned process to honor the life of the cat by offering guidance and valuable information.

The End of Life Toolkit addresses several key aspects of the euthanasia process, such as early Quality of Life discussion, decision making, the euthanasia experience for both veterinary professionals and caregivers, the euthanasia process, and how to support a client through final arrangements and beyond.

Veterinary professionals can easily view, download, and print (PDF format) the End of Life Toolkit from the AAFP’s website
