Navigating Housing During the Pandemic
As COVID-19 shuttered the state of Arizona with stay at home orders, the need to house our clients did not. Through a partnership between HSC, ABC Housing and HOM, Inc., we were able to continue housing briefings, so that our clients could still access life-saving permanent supportive housing. HSC staff set up a safely distanced conference room for clients and case managers to Zoom with HOM, Inc. to complete their housing briefing and sign necessary paperwork. During this adapted model, 58 clients received their housing vouchers. With the expert support from their HOM housing specialist they were able to begin their apartment search. To date, 22 of these people have moved into apartments, and 36 are apartment searching. We thank both HOM and ABC Housing for coming together and stepping up to house our communities most vulnerable during the pandemic. As Sharon Shore, Chief Programs Officer for HOM would say, ‘from the bottom of our housing hearts’ we THANK YOU!
Collaboration in Action!
Life is adjusting to a COVID-norm as we have adapted procedures and spaces to deal with assessments and physical distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, and sanitizing. We are prepared to operate this way as long as it takes to ensure the health and safety of as many people as possible.

  • Our case for adding beds to the special permit for the Campus is on the agenda for information-only on July 13th to the Central City Village Planning Committee at 6 pm. Please help us to generate support by visiting https://fromstreettohome.org/ and sharing this link with your networks. COVID is exposing the lack of service capacity for providers to be able to shelter everyone who is vulnerable, and shelter is a first step to ending homelessness.
  • HSC and St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) are providing summer weather relief for up to 80 people nightly in the SVdP dining room. We will operate the program through September 30.
  • Our next bottled water donation drop-off at 15th Avenue & Harrison is Saturday, July 18th from 9am to noon, and it couldn’t be easier. You pull up and our staff will remove the donations from your vehicle. Call Ivan Orozco at 602-282-0849 or email [email protected] for more information.
  • You may also contribute online and help us purchase water in bulk at discounted prices:  https://donorbox.org/hsc.
.
Thank you for your continued support! Stay safe and healthy!
We need at least 60,000 bottles of water per
month to keep our clients hydrated and healthy.
Homelessness is not a choice. The reasons men and women experience homelessness are as diverse as they are.

To address the challenge, the Human Services Campus and our collaborating partners are seeking Phoenix City Council approval to add more shelter beds.

We are not expanding the Campus. We need permission to use our existing space for those men and women already at and near the Campus, so that more people can sleep inside.
