Annual Conference Wrap-Up

About 800 clergy and lay members of the Northern Illinois Annual Conference and guests met to explore “Grace is Sufficient" inside and outside the church doors. The event featured powerful preaching from Bishop Dan Schwerin and Bishop Karen Oliveto, inspiring Bible Study with Rev. Dr. Reginald Blount, a Laity Address from Eugene Williams, vibrant music, and joyful moments of connection. They also heard presentations, voted on ratifying the Constitutional Amendments, enjoyed the Lunch-and-Learns, and passed legislation to further the conference mission and ministry.

One of the highlights this year was that the plenary sessions were opened in prayer by Young Delegates. Arunima Sudhakar from Prairie South provided the prayer for Plenary 2.  Arunima is a member of LaSalle UMC She is a Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary student.

Conference members passed a balanced 2026 operations budget of $5,108,000, supported by anticipated apportionment, dividend, and interest receipts of the same amount. Further, they approved a new a three-tiered simplified and equitable apportionment plan, based on church income levels. Learn more in an update from CCFA.
