DOD’s next membership meeting will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, via Zoom. Our primary focus – with guest speakers – will be a discussion about racism and how each of us can and should fight against it.
Guest speakers committed to-date are:
Dieter Crawford, a native of Palm Springs and organizer of that city’s Black History Month activities.
Megan Beaman Jacinto, a member of the Coachella City Council, is an attorney who has been fighting for the rights of individuals, including farmworkers, and communities.
DOD also has invited Waymond Fermon, a member of the Indio City Council.
The second segment of the DOD Zoom meeting will be about the Biden for President campaign. Let’s get out there and help Joe win the White House! Our guest will be Akshay Venugopalan, the Biden campaign’s Southern California regional coordinator.
The meeting link with agenda will be emailed the morning of the 27th
The Stonewall Riots in June of 1969 marked the beginning of the modern day Gay Rights movement.
As millions of Americans have taken to the streets to fight against police violence and discrimination towards people of color, let’s not forget that it’s also Gay Pride Month.
Democrats of the Desert is proud to support the LGBT Community. We’ll be organizing DOD participation in the Palm Springs Gay Pride Parade, which will be held in November.
