Maestro Roger Kalia and OSM

Extend Their Partnership

OSM is proud to announce that Music Director Roger Kalia will continue to lead the orchestra through the 2029/30 season! Maestro Kalia reminisced about his experiences with OSM in recent years:

"I am honored and thrilled to continue my relationship with Orchestra Santa Monica for the next five years. Over the past seven seasons, I’ve been so proud of what we’ve accomplished together—from commissioning bold new works to performing beloved masterworks, and collaborating with an incredible range of guest artists across musical genres. Working with the extraordinary musicians of OSM is a true joy. Their talent, versatility, and dedication never cease to inspire me - they really can do it all."

OSM President Fred Scholder states, "I have the greatest respect for our talented maestro. Roger connects wonderfully with our musicians and audiences, and he really makes the orchestra shine.”

Ray Knapp, OSM Board Member and violinist, shared his thoughts as a member of the orchestra: "Roger has been incredibly responsive to initiatives from us, sensing what we want to accomplish and adding his own vision to enhance our own, helping us accomplish much more than we could have otherwise imagined. And the orchestra has been equally responsive to him as a conductor of imaginative and challenging programs as we continue to grow our community based audience."

Roger concluded, "I’m deeply grateful to the OSM Board of Directors for their continued trust and belief in my artistic vision. It’s a privilege to be part of this organization, and I look forward to all that we will create and share together in the seasons ahead."
