Local Officials Urge Residents to be Prepared as Hurricane Season Begins

Wednesday, June 1 marked the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s outlook for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, which extends from June 1 to November 30, is forecasting a likely range of 14 to 21 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 6 to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 6 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher).

Concerts on the Green Return Next Week

Gloucester's Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department is excited to announce that Concerts on the Green will be held during the month of June! There is a great line up of entertainment and they hope to see you all for a relaxing evening.

June 2022 line up and dates are as follows:

Toby & Larry: Thursday, June 9th at 6 p.m.

Just Dan: Wednesday, June 22nd at 6 p.m.

Please remember to bring your own chair or blanket (seating is not provided) and that alcohol is not permitted on the courthouse green.

Sixth Edition of the Gloucester Arts Festival Kicks off Tomorrow

From murals and sculptures to the new Studio Tour with Gloucester’s own artists and artisans, to the premier Plein Air Invitational of the Middle Peninsula and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s Under the Stars Concert, this year’s festival will be more exciting than ever!

Throughout the month, guests can watch as Plein air artists from across the country paint the Heart of the River collection; meet the Artists during the Brews & Brine event at historic Timberneck Farm and at historic Abingdon Church for Cocktails in the Garden and a bluegrass concert with Chris Jones and the Night Drivers; and the newest event, Village Arts Day – which features a full day of performances and a bespoke Artisan Market. There is something for everyone during June at the Gloucester Arts Festival!
