St John’s Chico Celebrates partnership with American Red Cross
Left to right: Gwyneth Stephenson (Senior Warden), Sherry Wallmark (Parish Admin), Rev. Dr. William Stomski (Interim Rector), and Dr. Nathaniel Millard (Program Manager, Community Disaster Risk Reduction) celebrating our renovation of St. David's Hall as a Resilience Center in collaboration with American Red Cross. | St. John's recently received significant grant funding from the American Red Cross for renovation. This is a continued, expanding ministry in which we have been involved since the Camp Fire in 2018. Our close relationship within our community continues to build strength, endurance, and live out our baptismal covenant. The funds will be used to renovate St. David's Hall for use in future disasters.
Bishop Megan visits St Paul’s Healdsburg
Kudos to the folks at St. Pauls Healdsburg!
To commemorate Bishop Megan's visit last Sunday, they gifted her with individually packaged sugar cookies with her likeness.
While there, the bishop preached, celebrated the Eucharist, confirmed four, reaffirmed four and accepted one member into the communion.
The joyous service was followed by fellowship and gathering with the congregation.

Good Shepherd Cloverdale hosts FaithX event for local community members
On Sunday, May 26, Good Shepherd in Cloverdale held an event as part of its vitality improvement plan under the FaithX project currently being implemented at select parishes in the Diocese. The event, called “A Joyful Noise and Conversation”, was planned as a way for Good Shepherd to determine the needs in its community and how it could better serve those needs.
The event involved inviting members of the immediate neighborhood, friends of parishioners, and leaders of other churches and non-profit service organizations to come together for a couple of hours of music, food, and discussion. The idea was to have conversations about the needs of the community, write them down, and post them on a poster board for all to See. People were also offered the opportunity to submit the information anonymously. Our band played music and we served street tacos and churros prepared by Mission Committee member Jim Alexander and his team. The music included gospel and other genres presented by two of the church’s lay music ministers, Steve Tellez (Senior Warden) and Ron Longo as well as fellow musicians.
The event was well attended with about 50 people joining the fun during the two hours of the event. The information collected is still being compiled and more information will be obtained in interviews with some of those who could not attend. The next step will be to get a group of folks together who are interested in collaborating on solutions. This includes working with other churches and service organizations.
As a result of the event, we have learned more about our community and the current state of other churches and non-profit organizations. We have also discovered many instances of duplicated efforts. The project has also taught us about how important it is to stay connected to the community and perform regular outreach to determine current conditions of people and organizations. We look forward to working on a new path forward with our neighbors.
– The Rev. Bob Scott, Deacon

Missioner for Disaster Resilience
Now is the Time to Prepare for a Disaster
Disasters strike in many ways: fire, flood, earthquake, landslide, electrical grid failure – all of which we've experienced in our diocese. Depending upon your location, your church may be subject to one or more potential disasters. Knowing which is most likely to occur is the first step in preparation.
Contact me, and we will work together to build a preparedness program that works for your congregation.
If you would like some suggestions about where to start on your resilience journey, our volunteers are happy to come to you. Once your congregation has started planning for disaster, we can also help you become more visible in your community, both as a trusted partner in planning and a safe haven in time of need.
Peace,
Mark Dibelka | Missioner for Disaster Resilience

| Trinity Cathedral to Host Screening of The Philadelphia Eleven | |
Film Screening - The Philadelphia Eleven
July 13th, 2 - 4 pm, Trinity Cathedral
2620 Capitol Ave, Sacramento
Donations on a sliding scale of $5 - $10 are welcome - no one will be turned away for lack of funds
In an act of civil disobedience, a group of women and their supporters organize their ordination to become Episcopal priests in 1974. The Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia welcomes them, but change is no small task. The women are harassed, threatened and banned from stepping on church property. In this feature-length documentary film, we meet the women who succeed in building a movement that transforms an age-old institution, and challenges the very essence of patriarchy within Christendom.
Following the screening, there will be a reception in the Lexis Gallery, featuring an exhibit comprised of some 20 art pieces by seven women artists, all of whom attend Trinity Cathedral.
