Kingman County Fair

Fair Entries

Thank you to everyone who submitted Fair Entries! I know it is early, but the Fair Board has used those numbers already!  If you need to take off any entries, you can do so until June 14. You can log back into your FairEntry.com account and make those changes. If you would rather, just email Melissa and she can make those changes for you.

Fashion Revue Scripts

All scripts for the public Fashion Revue are due to Melissa by 5:00 pm on Friday, June 28.  Please email those to mthimesch@ksu.edu.  The form to submit your scripts can be found here. Seniors will also need to submit a cost per wear form, which can be found here.

Extension Cords in Livestock Barns

This year, please plan to use 12-gauge extension cords for livestock in the barns. Hopefully this will help with the power usage during the fair.

Photography and Art Prep Workshop

Do you have questions on how to prepare your photography or art exhibits for the fair? We will be holding a come and go workshop from 3:00 to 6:00 on Friday, July 12 at the Extension Office. Members can bring items during that time and we can help them get ready for the fair. If members need to purchase photo boards those will also be available for $2 each.

Find the 4-H Section of the Kingman County Fair Book HERE!

Sugar Content in Food Exhibit Items

As members prepare items in the Food Department, please remember for items to be self-stable, we need to account for the sugar content in items with frosting and fillings. Here is a worksheet that will help you determine the safety of your items. Please remember, that the sugar content in frostings and fillings needs to be higher than 65%.

Fair Superintendents Needed

Would you like to help out at the Fair this year? We need some Fair Department Superintendents. This job would include working with the judge to make sure all entries are judged, making sure all entry cards are marked and returned to the fair office, making sure all entries have ribbons attached to them, and making the department entries nice and neat for the fairgoers to enjoy. We need Superintendents for the following areas Pets, Home Environment, 4-H and Open Class Woodworking, Open Class Quilts, and Open Class Recycled. If you are interested, please let Melissa know.

Public Fashion Revue

This year the Public Fashion Revue will be held at the Kingman Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The date for this event will be July 14th at 2:00 pm.

Whispering Willow holds May Meeting

The May meeting of the Whispering Willow 4-H Club was different than our normal meetings. We were to meet on May 6th, the night the weather forecasters predicted a very bad storm. To keep everyone safe, our club leaders decided to hold a video meeting. Leader Jessica Gehring recorded a video to tell members about all of the important information coming up. She then gave us a question to answer by email to get checked on the roll call list.

We are glad that no damage happened with the storms that night and we are also glad we can use technology to still hold our 4-H Club Meeting.

Joe Thimesch, Reporter

This year I would like to share club highlights each month in the 4-H newsletter. If club reporters would like to email me a short paragraph about what your club is doing each month, I will include that here! Please email that to me at mthimesch@ksu.edu by the 20th of each month.

Record Book Round Up!

Section Seven: Project Financial Journal

This section is where you will record all project related finances, both income and expense. The focus in this section is on accuracy and being thorough, not on total profit or loss. All project areas will incur some type of expense and most will provide an opportunity for income. On the Animal Project Report there are sections to document inventory of animals, expenses, income, and animal performance related to the 4-H project. Please be as detailed and specific as possible.
