PENTECOST

This Sunday is Pentecost - the day we celebrate the gift the Holy Spirit and birth of the church. We encourage you to wear RED. Learn more about Pentecost here.

SUMMER SECOND SUNDAYS

Second Sundays at Dayspring continue this summer — just with a lighter schedule! We’re paring things down a bit, but the heart of the day remains the same. Join us for:

  • Divine Feminine Conversations and Sacred Space in the early block

  • Our Traditional Celebration Service and Kids' Church at 10 AM

  • Relaxing Yoga & Sound Healing Meditation and the Affirming LGBTQIA+ Session later in the morning

Simple breakfast fare will be offered throughout the morning. The offerings may be fewer, but the experience will be just as meaningful. We’d love to see you there!

*** No dogs, please -- we love to have them visit us on 2nd Sundays, but the pavement is just too hot during the summer.

GATHERING TO SUPPORT OAK FLAT

Apache Stronghold asks Phoenix-area supporters to pray for Oak Flat and to gather at the courthouse TOMORROW, Friday, June 6, from 8-9:30am, at the Sandra Day O'Connor Courthouse (401 W. Washington St., Phoenix). A combined hearing is scheduled at 10 a.m. when the San Carlos Apache Tribe and a coalition of environmental groups will ask for a Preliminary Injunction that would halt the land transfer until their environmental lawsuits can be heard. The gathering will be OUTSIDE, so please dress accordingly and bring water. If you wish to observe the 10am hearing, the group will enter the building at 9:30. (To go through courthouse security, you need a REAL ID or passport.) For more information, email sage@dayspring-umc.org.

DIVINE FEMININE CONVERSATIONS

If you've been curious about the Divine Feminine Celebrations on 2nd Sundays this past year, our purpose is to help spiritual seekers and unfulfilled congregants gain a richer experience of God. We use nontraditional and less doctrinal experiential activities, storytelling, diverse sources and concepts to refresh and transform practices in the world.

On 2nd Sundays in June, July & August, we invite everyone to a conversation regarding the Divine Feminine from 8:50-9:30 a.m. in the Palo Verde Room. No right or wrong thoughts, just conversation. June 8 we will focus on "Feminine Language for God, the Divine, the Holy." Bring your coffee, tea or lemonade and let's talk and learn from one another.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Prayer Shawl Ministry meets at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays in the Fellowship Hall - or on the patio, weather permitting! All knitters and crocheters age 7th grade and older are welcome to participate. Yarn and patterns are available. This ministry is growing and we need more people making shawls and blankets. Please email Susan Staley with questions.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School starts on Monday, June 9! True North VBS will take kids on an Alaskan adventure while they learn about Jesus. This Saturday, June 7, at 9am is our decorating party when we decorate for VBS and get all the rooms set up and ready to go. We would love for you to join us to help set up and get our campus ready for the week ahead! Email Andrea for more information.

Our Summer Choir sings at the 10:00am service on the first and third Sundays of the month—with no weekday rehearsals! Just come at 9:20am on the morning of the service to learn the song and warm up.

The next time summer choir sings is June 15, and we’d love to have you with us. Interested? Email David for more details!

SUMMER CAMP VOLUNTEERS

@ IGLESIA ALIENTO

Our sister church Iglesia Aliento (701 S. 1st Street, Phoenix) is in need of volunteers at their Summer Camp -- especially from 9:30-10:30am, for the reading session! The camp runs Tuesday through Thursday, from July 1 to July 16, with daily activities from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Those 18 and older must undergo a background check. Reading and providing mentorship and emotional encouragement for these kids helps build confidence, imagination, and a sense of stability—things every child needs! Learn more/sign up

They are also in need of children's books (especially for ages 6-12) in good condition. Books can be shared through Kris in the church office.

HEAT RELIEF DONATION DRIVE

Please bring in water bottles, electrolyte drinks, and nutritional snacks to support Tempe Cooling Centers this 2025 summer. We're also collecting hygiene products, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, socks, board games and books.

JUNE CITY HOPE COLLECTION

We are collecting Rice and Canned Meats for City Hope Center during the month of June. City Hope Center is a community outreach organization dedicated to providing essential resources and support to individuals and families in need. Operating every Saturday morning, the center offers a grocery store-style experience where guests can access food, hygiene products, and clothing at no cost.
