2026 Primary Election Results

All the ballots have been cast in the Statewide Primary, but it will be some time before they are all counted. There will be daily “canvass updates” until June 12th, and the final update will take place on June 26th. Local and countywide results can be checked at this link. Home Improvement Expo Event Recap

Last Saturday, the Community Development Department brought back its popular Home Improvement Expo to Whaley Park. Long Beach residents connected with local experts in remodeling, ADUs, window upgrades, solar installation, sustainable gardening and other topics. City staff answered questions about permitting, inspections, code enforcement and more. Thanks to Community Development for continuing to host this special event in Council District 4.

Crit State Championships at El Dorado Park

On Sunday, I had the honor of presenting a proclamation commemorating the inaugural Junior and Masters Criterium State Championships at El Dorado Park. It was a memorable day of bicycle racing as participants made history at this unique racing and community building event. Thanks to the many spectators who supported the racers with cheers from the sidelines and to the many volunteers who made it all possible. Special thanks to Meaghan O’Neill who serves as the Community Services Supervisor for El Dorado Regional Park and Nature Center.

Atherton St Rehabilitation Project

Begins June 2026 | M-F 7 am - 4 pm | E Atherton St.

The Atherton Street Rehabilitation Project is planned to kick off in June 2026. Project improvements include a smoother and safer driving surface, reconstruction and installation of curb ramps to bring them into compliance with current ADA standards, refreshed pavement markings, reconstruction of deteriorated curbs and gutters, installation of concrete bus pads at Vuelta Grande Avenue and Studebaker Road, continental crosswalks and sidewalk replacement. Summer Fun Days Registration Open

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine is hosting Summer Fun Days beginning Monday, June 15th through Friday, August 21st. This program is for children 5 to 12 years old, and children may come and go at their own discretion. Pre-registration is required. Special Olympics Torch Run

June 5th | Ends at the CSULB Pyramid this afternoon



The route for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run will include Council District 4. Times are approximate, but here is our best guess at the schedule: after a photo opp at Legends, the torch will leave Belmont Shore around 2 pm headed for the Pyramid. In CD4, it will head N/B on Bellflower Blvd. from PCH, right onto Beach Dr., left onto Merriam Way and end at the Pyramid for a photo opp.

Special Olympics Summer Games

June 5th thru 7th | 5:30 pm | 6000 E Atherton St.



Hundreds of athletes from across Southern California will compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals and ribbons in athletics (track & field), basketball, bocce, flag football, and swimming. Along with the sports venues, the Games include live music, games, and sponsor booths. This year's Summer Games will be held at Cal State Long Beach. Find more info on the Summer Games at this link. Summer Concert with The Salty Suites

The El Dorado Nature Center will host a series of free summer concerts on Thursday evenings, bringing live music to their beautiful lake-side setting. The gates open at 6:30 pm, Concert from 7 to 8 pm. Friends of El Dorado Nature Center members can enter early at 6 pm. Bring an eco-friendly dinner and low chairs! The first concert will be with The Salty Suites.

LBACS Low Cost Vaccine Clinics

Long Beach Animal Care Services and Camp Clinics are hosting low-cost vaccine clinics on Tuesday, June 9th and Friday, June 12th from 10 am to 2:30 pm. City Shred Event

The Department of Energy and Environmental Services invites Long Beach residents to participate in the upcoming shred event offering no-cost, secure disposal of sensitive documents. Shredded paper is not recyclable in curbside recycling carts. The shred event will be on Saturday, June 13th at the Vets Memorial Stadium. Lowe's Kids Workshop: Toy Box Project

Lowe's hosts monthly kids' workshops in-store for Lowe's Rewards members. For June, participants will keep treasures safe and organized with a Mini Toy Box project!
