June 6,2022
June 1st Town Council Meeting Highlights

The Town Council held their regular meeting on Wednesday, June 1st. Here are the highlights:

  • The Council adopted all the items on the consent calendar.
  • The Council continued the Budget Hearing and the Outdoor Dining Ordinance to the June 15th Special Meeting to be held at 6:30pm.
  • Two ordinances were introduced. One regarding Short Term Rentals and one regarding Gas Powered Landscaping equipment. Both items will be up for adoption at the July 6th regular Town Council meeting.
  • The Council adopted an ordinance changing the start time for all Town Council regular meetings to 6:30pm.
  • A Resolution Proclaiming June 2022 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month and Approving Flying the Pride Flag at Town Hall for the Month of June was adopted.

Defensible Space Evaluations Beginning Week of June 6 in Fairfax

Uniformed Fire Inspectors will conduct Wildfire Defensible Space and Home Hardening Evaluations on residential properties in the Fairfax Bolinas Road, Bothin and Ridgeway neighborhoods of Fairfax starting the week of June 6, 2022. Inspections are conducted by Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority (MWPA) in cooperation with the Ross Valley Fire Department, and the Marin County Fire Department.

Fairfax Recreation is excited to offer a summer basketball camp. This camp session will improve overall basketball fundamentals, skills, and team ethics.

Opportunities for ADU/JADU Permitting and Construction

In January of this year, the Town Council updated the Accessory Dwelling Units/ Junior Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU/JADU) ordinance No.861 and extended the amnesty program another 10 years (expires January 1, 2032). As part of the program all penalties are waived and ALL ADUs/JADUs (legalizing illegal ones or permitting new ones) get 50% permit fees charged.  The streamlined permitting process along with the California laws that have been be passed in recent years, it's easier than ever to add an ADU or JADU to your property.

Paper Grocery Bags Needed by Fairfax Food Pantry
 
The Fairfax Volunteers are in need of paper grocery bag donations for the food pantry. Slightly used bags may be dropped off at the Fairfax Community Church, 2398 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., on Saturday mornings between 7-10am.

Home Match Marin

Home Match is a local non profit shared housing program. They are bringing people together to share homes. This program can benefit everyone by creating more affordable housing opportunities and helping those with extra space have more connection and community.

Marin Microbusiness $2500 Grant Program

The Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grant (MBCRG) Program is State funded through the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA). In partnership, the County of Marin, the Marin SBDC and Dominican University of California will carry out this program to fund 105 microbusinesses at $2500 each. Applications are open now. This round closes June 30, 2022.
