End of Year Notices l 6.7.20
We have a few updates to share with you for the week ahead and the month of June.
Listening Circles begin this week

Mrs. Jen Reinwald, Vice Principal of Student Life, wrote the following message to all students via Schoology on Friday.

Dear Students,

In light of recent events, I am writing this email to check in on how each of you is feeling. I am not sure if you have had the chance to see Mrs. Eros’s recent statement , but I hope that you have. Carondelet High School unequivocally believes that Black lives matter. The recent terrible, tragic, and unjust deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Abery, and Breonna Taylor, as well as other unjust events, require response and systemic change. These events and the protests that have followed highlight the need for conversation, education, and social justice. As we read in 1 Corinthians 12:12 “For just as the body has many members, and all of the members of the body, though many, are one body,” our country and our communities need to come together for the lives and dignity of all.

We have heard from many students the need for authentic sharing and listening now and in the future. Please know that your teachers want these opportunities, as well, and are beginning to have these conversations today.

In order for us to truly understand our students’ needs, we are inviting you to participate in a Listening Circle. Since we are still under social distancing guidelines, these Listening Circles will be held on Zoom. Each circle will be held in small groups of between 6-10 students and 2 faculty/staff. These circles will be for students in classes '20-'23. These conversations are opportunities to share what you are thinking and feeling, give feedback on what you’d like to see next year at school, and what you feel you need concerning this topic. The administration, faculty, and staff of Carondelet have plans to continue the conversation, create further opportunities to engage with this and other social justice topics, and develop school-wide inclusive programming. Your feedback is desired and welcomed as we plan.

More information on these listening circles and how to sign up for one will be emailed out by Monday, June 8. Listening Circles will begin Thursday, June 10.

Free COVID-19 Testing
A message from Contra Costa Health Services

Dear parents/guardians:

We have made great progress slowing COVID-19 in our county this spring. Thank you for following the health orders. We know it hasn’t been easy, but you have helped save lives in our community.

One thing we can all do to help the county reopen faster – and keep our schools and families safe – is to get tested for COVID-19.

When everyone gets tested, it helps to identify where in the community the virus is spreading and stop it.

You can have COVID-19 and not know you have it. You might not even feel sick.

That is why Contra Costa Health Services is encouraging everyone to get tested (ideally once a month), even if they feel fine.

You can get an easy, same-day COVID-19 test at no cost to you, 7 days a week. Call 1-844-421-0804 for an appointment. Get tested in a clinic or in your car. It takes about 10 minutes to make an appointment.

Testing does not hurt. Most county sites (Antioch, Concord, Martinez, Pittsburg, San Pablo, San Ramon) now use a swab test that inserts just inside the nostril. The experts in Public Heath quickly contact anyone who tests positive to help them get the care they
need and protect the people around them.

Thank you for helping Contra Costa County stay healthy.
