June 8 Greetings

Dear Ones,

It’s Tuesday in the second week of June. It certainly has been warm and windy this week. All the allergens are being stirred up; I hope you are managing your allergies better than I am!

I was greeted at the church door this morning by three very speedy lizards. They have definitely been eating well as their bodies measured about four inches long. I must have startled them, as they scattered quickly, I didn’t even see where they went. I don’t know who was more surprised, me or them…

As we continue to find our way to a new normal, I will be cutting back on our daily emails. Since March 14 of last year we have been sending out an email six days a week, Monday through Saturday, that’s about 384 so far. I have been writing the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday emails, with Kimberly covering Wednesdays with biographies of church members and Pastor Adam writing the Saturday edition with a focus on youth and families.

Beginning June 21 we will be discontinuing the Monday emails. The Wednesday emails will only be sent out when we have new members to introduce. If you haven’t been featured in a Wednesday email yet and would like to be, please let Mary in the church office know and we will send you the information questionnaire that you can send on to Kimberly. Please don’t be shy, it’s a great way for new members to learn about you as well! We anticipate reducing the emails to two a week by the end of July.

Please join us next week at 9:00 a.m. for the live-streamed traditional service or the 11:00 a.m. contemporary service as we continue to go bravely into a new way of being church! Masks are not required, but if you feel more comfortable wearing one, please do!

We are in dire need of worship team members! Can you see yourself as a greeter, an usher, a liturgist or staffing the welcome table? It takes many hands to make our worship happen. If you have done one of these tasks in the past or are totally new at it (we’ll train you), please let Pr. Tricia or Mary in the office know, or contact Carol Northrup at [email protected]

Tomorrow we are offering a Food Handler’s class at Emmanuel at 9:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you are someone who helps with the Interfaith Meal or would like to be part of the Fellowship Ministry that will be serving food during fellowship time in the future, you need to have a Food Handler’s card! The certification is good for two years. Over 25 people have signed up already! Please contact Mary in the church office to let us know to expect you.

We have resumed collection of food items for the Prescott Valley Food Pantry at 8781 E. Spouse Dr. Rhonda Medina will be taking the items to the pantry tomorrow or Thursday, so there is still some time to bring your donated items to the narthex. The most needed items include:

  • canned fruits
  • canned vegetables
  • tuna
  • canned chicken
  • pastas
  • mac & cheese
  • peanut butter
  • boxed cereal
  • rice

Cash donations are always appreciated as they can fill in with items such as fresh food, breads and meats.

A Bible verse for today:

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
