Summer Learning Challenge Kickoff!

Kick off the 2026 Summer Learning Challenge with a family friendly musical performance by Dos Bandoleros. Learn about all the special events happening this summer, see a live 3D printing demo, make a paper lei craft and much more.


All ages are encouraged to attend.


Refreshments will be provided.

Hamilton to Hollywood: Trivia Throwdown

From Hamilton to Hollywood, America has a long history which makes for a lot of trivia. Come and test your history and pop culture knowledge and celebrate America's 250th.


Registration is required. No more than 12 teams with 4 people can participate. You are responsible for assembling your team of 4 people.

Pride at SSF Library

This Pride month, we have activities for all ages celebrating LGBTQ+ communities. We've also included some selections from our collection, as well as a few Bay Area Pride events! 

Programs for Adults

Gray & Gay: LGBTQ+ Documentary Showing

We'll show two documentaries featuring older LGBTQ+ adults. In Gen Silent, LGBTQ+ elders in the U.S. deal with isolation and the fear of homophobia or transphobia on the part of caregivers and peers. In Open Windows/Las ventanas abiertas, filmmakers interview four active, vibrant lesbians in their seventies in Spain and France.


Each film is roughly one hour long; there will be a ten-minute intermission after Gen Silent, and Open Windows will start at 3:45 PM.

Celebrate the Summer Learning Challenge and Pride at our Disco Dance Party for kids and families!


Get ready to move and groove to the kid-friendly beats of DJ Chico Chi, strike a pose in our themed photo booth, and get your glow on under the Youth Library stars. Costumes and party outfits encouraged!


This program is recommended for children ages 0-11 and their families and caregivers.
