UWF Bluegrass Bash

BBQ Lunch & Concert | Sat. June 14 | 12 PM | Linder Hall | RSVP

Come eat and enjoy a bluegrass concert performed by the well-known JD Givens & Co, a favorite among the local bluegrass crowd! This is a fun event for all ages and just in time for Father's Day, so grab your family and friends and join in on the fun. Kids 9 and under are free! Adults (17+) are $20 each and kids (10 - 16) are $10 each.

We're going on a Road Trip, and you're invited! VBS will take place across four Sundays from 12 to 3 PM each day. We're packing it full of fun, helping our kids embark on an adventure with God. You can get all the details online. Share the info with your friends and be sure to register by June 15!

Join the No-Commitment Summer Choir!

Sun. June 15 - Aug. 31 | Service Call Time: 8: 15 AM | Music Center

Adults & Teens: Beginning June 15, come to the Music Center to learn a simple anthem or two that we'll sing during that day's Traditional Worship service. The attire is "come as you are." Come one Sunday or come to as many Sundays as you are available!

The choir is open to anyone with any vocal range. Bring your beautiful voice and singing heart regardless of your previous experience! For more information, email Brian Lustig, Director of Choral Activities.

Children, Youth, Hand Chimes will take a break for summer but music will be part of our VBS programming!

If you've received a prayer quilt from First Church at any time during the life of this ministry, we invite you to bring it with you on June 22 and drape it on the pew.

Annual Rummage Sale: We Need Your Donations!

Donate your gently used items for the upcoming UWF Rummage Sale! Suggested items: housewares, small-scale furniture, functional electronics, sports equipment, smaller gardening tools (no lawn mowers), plant pots, decorative items for gardens, toys, bicycles, knick-knacks, gently used clothing (no stains or holes!) shoes, purses, hats, jewelry, bedding, and even tools!

Community Conversations: Mission Valley Property Affordable Housing

Join our Property Transition Team for guided discussions to help shape the direction we take with our Mission Valley campus. These sessions are tentatively scheduled for June 29, July 13, and August 24 between our Sunday morning services. We will also offer sessions on Zoom for those who are unable to attend in person. Summer Sings Registration Now Open

Weds. July 9-30 | 6:30-9 PM | Music Center | Register Now

Sing with us this summer at FUMCSD! Learn from a different conductor each week and broaden your choral music repertoire. Sign up for specific weeks or register for all four sessions. Registration is $20 per session or $65 if you sign up for all four. Students are free!

Racial Justice Grants Applications

We're now accepting applications for our next round of grants!

This year, we'll award a total of $36,000 with a special focus on addressing basic immediate needs, such as food, clothing, and emergency shelter. Please share with any San Diego County nonprofit that is working toward a more just and equitable San Diego, especially for our neighbors and communities of color.

Applications will be accepted through July 31. Additional details and application are available on our Racial Justice Grants webpage.

San Diego Pride Parade

Donations needed! Plus, save the date: Sat. July 19 - RSVP for Parade

First Church San Diego will once again participate in the San Diego Pride Parade. We invite you to join us in sharing the message of unconditional love by giving a financial donation to help cover the costs of parade entry, decorations, and give aways. You can give online, through our weekly offering, or in the church office. If giving in person, please include a memo indicating that the money is for Pride Parade.

And be sure to mark your calendar for Sat. July 19 to come participate in the parade! We'll share specific parade participation details as we get closer to the date.

VBS is Coming & We Need Volunteers!

Sunday School starts immediately following A Time With Children – it's just a 35 minute commitment, and our goal is to get enough volunteers that you'll help just once a month. Materials and lesson plans are provided, so you get to focus on interacting with the kids. Email Rev. Brittany if you'd like to work with our phenomenal children and youth.

It's time to restock the pantry!

We're seeking donations to help fill the clothing closet, food bags, and hygiene kits that we make available to our neighbors in need. Here are some items that would be especially helpful: Ramen noodles (Beef and Chicken), applesauce, peanut butter, soup, SpagettiO's, Chef Boyardee, tuna (can or packet), boxed mac & cheese, fruit cups, vienna sausage, bottled water. If you are donating canned foods, please look for pull tab tops for easy opening.

Donations can be brought to the church office on Sundays and during the week.

Children and Youth Ministries Sunday Schedule

PRE-K, INFANTS, AND TODDLERS | Sundays 8:40 AM - 12 PM

This program offers a loving and nurturing environment in the Multipurpose Room located in the Children's Growing Center.

Sunday School is on Summer Break Starting June 29!

We'll have our regular Sunday School on June 22, then we'll be off July and August. We'll resume in September. We invite kids in grades K - 12 to worship in the Sanctuary with their families during the summer.

Until then, please sign your kids in in the Lower Sanctuary before the start of service. We start in the Sanctuary for 9 AM Traditional Worship and then leave as a group immediately following A Time With Children. Parents pick up kids from The Cove immediately following service. No Sunday School on the 1st Sunday of the month – kids are encouraged to worship with their family and participate in Communion.

Middle School and High School students are invited to sit together in the Sanctuary every Sunday to worship as a group!
