AC Free Virtual Event
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced employers and employees to adjust to new working environments, either at home or some other modified workplace. Premiers across Canada have now announced some sort of plan or framework - and many have re-opened in efforts to boost the economy. While there is light at the end of the tunnel, there won't be an immediate return to the "normal" Canadians used to know; the return will need to be careful and methodical.

Join us for a FREE webinar and discussion on what business will have to consider when restrictions are lifted to continue to protect employees and serve consumers adequately. Registration is open to all business.

Advocacy in Action
Changes to Canada Emergency Business Account

The Federal government's expansion of CEBA addresses our concerns that eligibility for CEBA should not discriminate against different business structures, such as entrepreneurs receiving income directly from their firms and businesses that rely on contract employees and pay staff through dividends.
To qualify under the expanded eligibility criteria, applicants with payroll lower than $20,000 would need:
  • a business operating account at a participating financial institution
  • a Canada Revenue Agency business number, and to have filed a 2018 or 2019 tax return.
  • eligible non-deferrable expenses between $40,000 and $1.5 million. Eligible non-deferrable expenses could include costs such as rent, property taxes, utilities, and insurance.
