CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2023
On Monday, May 8th, 130 seniors received their diplomas at their commencement ceremony at the Kravis Center. Bishop Barbarito presided. Graduation was preceded by the Baccalaureate Mass at the splendid St. Edward Catholic Church in Palm Beach. on Sunday, May 7th. We wish the Class of 2023 great success in all of their future endeavors.

ANNUAL LEGACY AWARDS
May 18th we celebrated our annual Legacy Awards at Mary Immaculate's Skaff Hall. This year's winners were from left to right, Star Award - Fr. Tomasz Makowski and Mary Immaculate Parish; Star Award - Fr. Glen Pothier, St. Edward Parish, and the Guild (not pictured); Legacy Businessman of the Year - Nicholas Coniglio '97; Business Woman of the Year - Dr. Ada Hanlon '84; Community Leadership Award - Gabriel Isasi V '11; Crusader Service Award - Eileen Lewis '82; Honorary Alumni - Brother Thomas Zoppo, FSC; Honorary Alumni - Mary Alice Fortin Foundation, accepted by board member Larry Alexander; and Alumni Recognition Award - Pat Dillion '91. Isabel Gonzales, Valedictorian
An AP Scholar of Distinction, Isabel has a grade point average of 5.23 and is a member of NHS and the Spanish Honor Society. She is the recipient of the Cardinal Newman Medal of Excellence in Computer Science, Spanish, and Religion. Isabel received the Harvard Book Award given out by alumni of Harvard University to the top-performing student in the 11/12th grade reading classes in nearly 2000 selected high schools from around the world. An accomplished flutist, Isabel played at all school masses and was a member of the CNHS Concert Band. She received a superior rating from the Florida Band Association on her Flute Solo at the district and state competition this year. She will attend Ava Maria University with a major in nursing.

Jordan Anderson, Salutatorian
A recipient of the National Merit Scholarship Commendation Award with a grade point average of 5.14, Jordan is a member of various honor societies, including NHS, Spanish, and the National Society of High School Scholars. A multi-faceted scholar, Jordan served as Vice President this year and attended the National Student Leadership Conference at the University of San Diego. Her extracurricular activities included Green Club, Dance Team, Best Buddies, and Varsity Cheer Captain. Jordan is the recipient of the Cardinal Newman Medal of Excellence in English and is a Pathfinder Nominee in Science. She will be attending the University of Florida, majoring in Aerospace Engineering.

Debbie Flynn Monteiro '91 and Justin Monteiro's '91 son, Jack, officially became a Cardinal Newman alumni on May 8th when he graduated with the Class of 2023. Congratulations Jack!

Jeni Licata '06 and Lilly Leas Ferriera '06 met at Cardinal Newman and have remained best friends ever since. Lilly, who is Lilly Pulitzer's granddaughter, recently published a children's book, "Life and Lilly", a story about growing up in Palm Beach. Jeni, whose father and two brothers also attended Newman, is the Executive Director at Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta. With the launch of Lilly's book, the two are collaborating this summer. The ArtCenter is hosting Lilly for story times and book signings and exhibiting original book illustrations by Lilly Pulitzer Print Studio.

Jeff Atwater '76 was honored with the Gaeta Chairman's Award of Excellence at the 2023 Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce Leadership Awards on May 12th.

Katrina Erickson '19 was awarded a bachelor of science degree in Social Work during Salve Regina University's 73rd commencement.

Congratulations to Kevin Garvey '08 and his new wife Amy Bronstein on their recent Marriage. The two were married on May 26th on Harbour Island in the Bahamas.
