Dear Alumni, Alumni Parents,
Grandparents and Friends.
Happy Summer! As we welcome the clear sunny skies of summer and the exit of Canadian wildfire smoke-filled air, we’d like to thank you all for your commitment and gifts to Touchstone.
We’ve updated the name of this newsletter to Alumni and Friends News to allow for the inclusion of alumni, of all former students, of parents, grandparents and friends who have generously given to the school. We would like to hear from you with ideas and suggestions. If you are a facebook user, let us know and we can add you to the Touchstone Friends site where Touchstone families can post.
This year has been a great one for the school as we emerged from the COVID imposed limitations and restrictions. Things are back to normal and, in many ways, even better than before. We now have more outdoor classrooms, including our Wildwood Lake Island, an incredible asset for the school and learning site for the kids. The days of field trips, camping/hiking trips and Farm School are now all restored, to everyone’s delight.
We had a very successful and positive once every ten years self-assessment with AISNE (Association of Independent Schools of New England). We were awarded a competitive $3000 Tufts Community Grant to be used for our garden program. Our newly established and youngest class, the Den (2 -3 year olds) has been very popular, as has the OSP program. This year, ten students graduated from the OSP. Our popular Summer Program is fully enrolled.
Our 40th anniversary celebration at our first live auction in three years was held at the beautiful Hopkinton Arts Center and brought together over 100 current and former families, faculty and former heads (Dick and Susan) for a lively evening of conversation, champagne toasts and reminiscing. The culmination, of course, was the live auction itself with lively, competitive and generous bidding guided by our board chair, Brad Maltz, and head, Sally Kent.
