2024 LAKE TO LAKE RIDE

On Saturday June 8th, Bellevue will again host their now-annual Lake to Lake Bike Ride, a recreation ride where all riders are expected to follow the rules of the road and trail. Most riders opt for the short course; those who opt for the long course will pass through Beaux Arts along the arterial, i.e., 104th SE to SE 28th to 105th SE, between 9:30 am and 11 am. Click here to view ride map.

REMINDER: BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICE TESTING

It is nearly time to perform annual tests of backflow prevention devices (BFD). These devices are required on any system that is permanently connected to the Town’s water distribution lines, e.g., lawn sprinklers, fire sprinklers, and boilers. All BFDs must be tested every year, and many residents participate in the Town’s testing program.

This year’s testing fee will be the same as last year: $46 per device. If you wish to join the Town’s testing program OR you have participated in the past and no longer wish to participate in the Town’s program, please contract Clerk/Treasurer Sue Ann Spens to let her know.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday May 14th and conducted the following business:

  • Reviewed a request for Boundary Line Adjustment submitted by Walter and Sarah Scott. The request was approved with conditions.
  • Approved a Middle Housing Public Participation Plan to support the Town’s work on a state-mandated ordinance to accommodate middle housing.
  • Discussed the status of updates to the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and the deadlines for submitting deliverables to the State Dept of Commerce. Updates remain on track for final adoption no later than December 2024.
  • Adopted Resolution No. 335 authorizing the Mayor to execute a Utility Design, Construction, and Cost Share Interlocal Agreement with the City of Bellevue pending the Town Attorney’s final approval as to form.
  • Councilmember Dix reported that she has obtained bids for work along the Glen Path and wishes to contract with the two low bidders. Clerk/Treasurer Spens will work with her to prepare the appropriate contracts. The Council will review and authorize the Mayor to execute them at the June meeting, and work will begin shortly thereafter.
