Are we going to be able to keep using the Schwitter and Hadley's Docks?

Please, keep a watch on your media feeds for information on how you can help us to bring awareness to the issues at both of these docks, and most likely many more around the State. The Standing Committee has been working to get as much information as possible as to the status of repairs at these docks, and honestly it doesn't seem good from our point of view. We are going to be creating a list of who you can contact with your concerns about the issues, as well as attend meetings soon where these issues can be addressed at the top level. And this is not just two docks and out kind of thing, around the state more State Park Docks look to be targets in order to avoid the cost of repairs. We have to join together as the voice of concern to State Officials that this is just not acceptable. We'll do our best to bring more specific information at the general meeting this coming Tuesday. All are welcome, the meeting invite as always is shown below.

Thanks for your support, Doug Romjue - Exec. VP of CRYA

The Chippewa Lake Floating Bog

When on a cruise earlier this year John Donnelly asked me if I had heard about the story of the floating bog. He felt it would be a good story for the Newsletter. In my opinion, he was right! There is a short U-tube video of a group of boaters moving it after it had drifted in Lake Chippewa to an undesired location. It is well worth the watch! Moving the Floating Bog - Video

Vicki's History

Vicki L. Walker is the Director of the Oregon Department of State Lands. Appointed by the State Land Board in 2018, Walker leads the Department’s work to manage school lands, protect waters and wetlands, and oversee South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Elliott State Research Forest.

Walker previously served as the Oregon State Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development. While at USDA, she oversaw the investment of $4.8 billion for more than 24,000 projects that helped rural Oregonians.

Before joining the USDA, Walker served for ten years in the Oregon Legislature (2003 to 2009) where she was a member of the Ways and Means Committee, overseeing budgets for natural resource and public safety agencies.

She received a B.S. from the University of Oregon and attended Lane Community College. Director Walker is President Emeritus of the National Association of State Trust Lands.

Content in your Club's Newsletters that all Boaters should read?

We can't see every club's internal communication, but we have to think some of the articles would be great information for all boaters. If you find that article of interest, please forward it to cryanews@gmail.com after getting approval to share. We can all be more informed.
