Common Threads
JUNE 2022
I want to express my deepest thanks to everyone that made the celebration of my 75th Birthday and 50th anniversary of my Ordination such a memorable experience. I have been overwhelmed by the prayers, well wishes, cards and gifts. What an honor to have served St. Brigid of Kildare for the last 25 years. I have been part of so many of your lives, through the good and the bad times. I have baptized your babies, given the sacrament of First Communion and Confirmation to thousands of children, married many of you and your children, and been there at the end of life for many friends, family, and loved ones.

My time at St. Brigid has been a wonderful, ministerial experience for me and I hope I have been able to make the message of the Church and the Gospel come alive in your own lives. Thank you to everyone that joined me at the Mass and celebration.  I want to thank my staff, the musicians, choirs, parish volunteers and the Knights of Columbus for all sharing their talents and creating such a beautiful Mass and party.

As I continue as Pastor here at St. Brigid and with my work in the Diocese of Columbus, I am so grateful for your past support and your future prayers.

Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Hendricks
Mass Intentions for Oct-Dec 2022
We will be taking Mass intention requests electronically through forms on the website for Masses in October, November and December 2022. The Mass Intentions form will go live on Monday, July 11 at 10 a.m. on our website at www.stbrigidofkildare.org. We will only be taking requests for October, November and December, 2022 at this time.

In order to fairly accommodate all Mass Intentions requested, we ask that you request no more than two (2) Mass intentions per family per quarter and only one Mass intention per month.

*As mass attendance increases in the wake of the pandemic, mass times may change. You are only requesting a date for Mass intentions. There is no option to select a time for a Mass. If the date you request is not available, the Mass will be assigned on the closest available date. If you enter a day of the week, we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Knights of Columbus Silver Rose Tour
Share the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe and promote respect for life by participating in the Silver Rose Pilgrimage. The Silver Rose program demonstrates the unity between Knights of Columbus in Canada, the United States and Mexico, through a series of prayer services promoting the dignity of all human life and honoring Our Lady.

Each year, from early March through mid-December, Silver Roses are stewarded by councils along routes from Canada to Mexico. Every stop the Silver Rose makes throughout the pilgrimage is a rosary-centered occasion for Knights, parishioners, and community members to pray for respect for life, for the spiritual renewal of each nation, and for the advancement of the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The Knights of Columbus will host the Silver Rose Tour on July 18 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel at St. Brigid of Kildare.

Bishop's Annual Appeal
Our Columbus Diocese is overjoyed at the announcement that Pope Francis has named Father Earl K. Fernandes, a priest of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, as the Bishop of Columbus.

Let us show our new Bishop that St. Brigid of Kildare is behind him and the Diocese of Columbus as he begins his new role by donating to the 2022 Bishops Annual Appeal.  He will need our prayers and encouragement.

Your faithful support of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps secure our Catholic legacy. The BAA funds, the education of our children, preparation courses for marriage, the education of our future priests and deacons, social justice programs in our community, and many other ministries.
Real Presence, Real Future: Feedback Needed by June 30
The Real Presence, Real Future initiative has created draft models which grouped some parishes together to foster collaboration. The Diocese of Columbus is asking all parishioners to review the videos that summarize these draft models for our planning area, Group 2 North, and then respond to their survey.

Step 1: Watch 35-Minute Video

  • The first 25 minutes of the video give an overview of the reasons for the need for this long-range plan for the Diocese of Columbus.
  • From minutes 25-35, they discuss the proposed draft options for consolidating parishes in our planning area
  • Minute 30 begins St. Brigid's proposed plan: collaborating with St. Joseph Church in Plain City, keeping separate churches but sharing clergy and staff.
Step 2: Give Feedback

  • After watching the video, complete the short parishioner feedback survey based on the draft models proposed in the video.
The survey will close on June 30.

Please take the time to give your honest feedback, as the more feedback received, the more effective and meaningful this initiative will be.

Thank you for your time on this matter!

To see the draft models for all parishes, and for more information on this initiative, visit the RPRF webpage here.

ON YOUR OWN:
People often say, “Sister, I would love to come to the things you offer at St. Brigid, but I don’t have time.” So, this summer I will give you something that you can do at home in your own time. You can do the study with a friend, a neighbor or as a family. The studies will be posted on the website and published in the bulletin in June. Each study is independent, so do all or just one. That is up to you!
