VBS 2017: Building the Kingdom of God

The St. Brigid of Kildare Educational Center has been a busy construction zone as 200 children experience what it means to build the Kingdom of God by being kind, faithful, humble, thankful and courageous.

Special thanks to the many Adult Managers and countless Junior Leaders who have brought our faith to life this week! The Crew Kids are having so much fun!

We will host a picnic (with the help of the Knights of Columbus) for all VBS families in celebration of a faith-filled week.

Save the Date for Ministry Weekend

Save the date for our annual Ministry Weekend, taking place September 23-24, 2017 in Hendricks Hall.

Stop by to enjoy refreshments and learn about our parish's many opportunities to donate your time, talent and treasure to the parish. Meet chairs from each ministry and learn more about the many ways you can get involved at Saint Brigid of Kildare.
SPICE Summer Get Moving Program

The St. Brigid of Kildare SPiCE Wellness and Get Moving program is sponsoring a series of fun, active events this summer such as soccer, yoga, volleyball, and a dance party. The main objective is to get children moving twice a week for 2 hours in a fun, non-competitive setting. Remember to bring a water bottle!

The Summer Get Moving program takes place June 6 - August 10, 2017. You must sign up for each individual session online. A parent consent/medical form must be turned in at your child's first session. All students entering K-6th grade in St. Brigid School, Parish, and Religious Ed are welcome, and the program will be especially sensitive to kids with special needs. All 7th-12th grades are welcome to volunteer as helpers throughout the program; please contact Morgan Ventresco at [email protected] if interested.

TO SIGN UP:
  1. Sign up for individual sessions here
  2. Complete the Medical Form and the Parent Consent Form and bring them to your child's first session
U pcoming Women's Bible Study:
Becoming Heart Sisters:
A Bible Study on Authentic Friendships

Woman to woman friendships are as important to our mental, physical and spiritual health as rest, exercise and prayer.  We don't just want friends - we need friends.  God created us to have relationships with others.

Using this program, we will dig into timeless truths of scripture and see examples of friendships.  If you are not sure if you want to participate in this program or if you want more information, come to the Program Overview and sample session on August 23 from 7:00- 8:30 pm.  There will be time for you to ask questions and to see what a session would be like.  This will give you the information you need in deciding to register or not register.

Registration will go from July 31 until September 1, 2017.
Program Dates: September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 7:00- 8:30 PM

For more information, contact Sister Teresa Tuite at [email protected]
Altar Server Training is June 26

All students in the fifth grade and older are invited to become Altar Servers for the Weekend and Holy Day Masses.

We are urging all those in fifth grade and above to consider becoming an Altar Server. You will have only one class to attend, one short section from the Liturgical Ministry Manual to read and study, and three mentoring sessions with an experienced Altar Server. Do this and you are ready to be scheduled as an Altar Server. It is a rewarding service!

Our next training session for Altar Servers is Monday, June 26, 2017, in the Church from 6:00 pm until 7:45 pm. Please register by June 12 so that we can be prepared to welcome you.

Do you have time to help an older parishioner in need?

Many seniors in our parish are in need of transportation services, home visits, or other help. If you have any time at all and feel the call to help a parishioner in need, please contact us.  We will partner you with  Syntero to be trained to help.  They accommodate all schedules and will set up either a short or long term match with a parishioner in need. Volunteer opportunities are based on your schedule and flexibility -- any amount of time you're able to give is enough! Our focus at St. Brigid is hospitality, which means welcoming and helping each other.  Please help us to further this goal, keeping in mind what Jesus taught us:  "Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."  Matthew 25:40.  Thank you!

If you are interested in volunteering to help St. Brigid seniors in need, please contact Kim VanHuffel at  [email protected]

Help Needed: Funeral Ushers and Bereavement Luncheons

One of the most compassionate things we do as a Church is the care offered to families at the death of a loved one.  We do this in many ways but two places where help is needed is at the Mass of Resurrection and the Bereavement Luncheon.  For everything to go smoothly for the family we take care of all the details at Church.  Right now, we have a critical shortage of ushers for the service.  Ideally we would have two ushers for each service.  Now, we have only three total ushers and I am wearing them out.  We would like to have 6 to 8 so it would not be too burdensome for anyone.   You do not have to be an usher currently and you would only be an usher for funerals NOT for the weekend Masses.  You do have to stand a bit so take that into consideration.

The second area where help is needed is for the Bereavement Luncheon.  Judy Murcer is the coordinator of this ministry.  We have more than 100 people who graciously, time after time, donate food.  Thank you so much for that - and we are always more than happy to add to that number.  Where the help is needed is for the luncheon itself. You can come to set-up, serve or clean-up.  Some volunteers do only one of the three, and some do all three.  It is a time commitment for those who do all three.  They usually arrive about 9:00 am and stay until everything is all cleaned and put away (usually about 2:00 pm).   Others come to help with set-up or clean-up and are gone in about 1 ½ hours.

Please men and women, look to see if either being an usher or helping with the Bereavement Luncheon would be something you would like to do.  We would be very grateful.  If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please call Sister Teresa 614-761-3734.

Recruiting New Cub Scouts
Boys entering 1st through 5th grades

St. Brigid Cub Scout Pack 117 is looking for boys who will be entering 1st through 5th grades in the 2017-2018 school year.  All boys in these age groups, whether a parishioner or student at St. Brigid are welcome to join.

The Scouting program teaches youth to be good citizens of their community, to be responsible to their families and reverent to God in a "Fun with a Purpose" atmosphere.

Joining this spring will entitle each youth and their families to participate in many summer activities including a weekend campout with archery, fishing, campfires and the like, building a float for the Dublin Fourth of July parade and walking in the parade, participating in the summer day camp, and much more.

If you are interested in joining the nearly 60 boys currently in the Cub Scouting program at St. Brigid, contact Cubmaster Jeff Leach at  614-761-2826 or email him at  [email protected].

2017-2018 HS Youth Ministry Sneak Peek
It is easy to compartmentalize who we are. At school, you are this person. At home, you are that person. On your team, you are another person. At church, you are someone else. In prayer, you are this way. In friendships, you are that way. But God calls us to wholeness. We are called to be entirely His...always. Imagine what life could be if we always remembered that we are loved and known by God and allowed that to guide us.  This coming year our ministry focus will be Identity Revealed. We will explore our identity in Christ, what it means to be known and loved by God, and how that can transform our lives if we allow it. Join us this coming school year as we learn and grow through discussion, scripture, theology of the body , guest speakers, service, prayer, and music in an effort to follow Christ, wholeheartedly.

Young Adult Ministry: Summer Series

CATHOLICISM: THE PIVOTAL PLAYERS  by Bishop Robert Barron is a DVD study series that presents six important saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of Western civilization.

In this 6-week series, Young Adult Ministry will explore the lives of St. Francis of Assisi (the reformer), St. Thomas Aquinas (the theologian), St. Catherine of Siena (the mystic), Blessed John Henry Newman (the convert), G.K. Chesterton (the evangelist), and Michelangelo (the artist) to reveal how they lived out our Catholic faith in inspiring ways.
St. Brigid of Kildare Young Adult Ministry will meet July 25, August 1, 8, 15, 22, & 28 from 7-8:30 PM in Hendricks Hall for this upcoming series!
