Baccalaureate Mass

CCHS Chaplain Fr. Timothy Reid, Vicar of Education, (pictured below) celebrated the Baccalaureate Mass for the CCHS Class of '22 and their families on May 24, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. CCHS Chaplains Fr. Sanchez and Fr. Torres concelebrated the Mass.

Senior Awards Ceremony

The Senior Awards Ceremony was held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Kara Kloiber Make a Difference Award was presented to Caroline Daniels.

2022 Commencement

Charlotte Catholic High School held its 66th annual Commencement Exercises on May 27, 2022 at Bojangles Coliseum. 283 graduates earned more than $23 million in college scholarships.

Rebecca Denton '22 was co-valedictorian. Rebecca will attend the University of Virginia.

Megan Sie '22 was co-valedictorian. Megan will attend The Catholic University of America.

Superintendent Greg Monroe and Principal Kurt Telford addressed the graduates and guests.

Excellence in Teaching Recognized

Mr. Telford presented the Verbesey Award for Excellence in Education to Ms. Ashley Flynn of the Mathematics Department. This $10,000 award, given annually by Mr. Herbert Verbesey and in memory of the late Tess Verbesey, was established to reward a teacher who has a record of contagious enthusiasm for classroom teaching, and who stimulates extraordinary accomplishments in students according to their abilities, builds students’ desire to learn, and treats students with dignity and respect.

The Sister Paulette Williams, RSM Awards for Outstanding Service were presented by Mr. Telford on behalf of The CCHS Foundation. The 2022 winners of these awards were: Mr. Arnoldo Gbenyon (Theology), Mrs. Dana Zimmer (Social Studies) and Mr. David Scarisbrick (English), all pictured right, along with Mrs. Carmen Garmilla (World Languages), Ms. Anna McNerney (English). Each teacher was presented with a $5,000 award.
