Happy Summer! Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
Baccalaureate Mass
Bishop Peter Jugis celebrated a Baccalaureate Mass for the CCHS Class of '21 and their families on May 25, 2021. Father Timothy Reid, Vicar of Education and CCHS Chaplain (pictured below), concelebrated.
The 2021 Baccalaruate Mass brought together families celebrating their graduates, including the Polking and Hoefling Families, there to honor John Paul Polking '21.
CCHS Administrators joined Father Reid prior to Mass. They include retiring Dean of Students Randy Belk, Assistant Principals Maria Leahy and Angela Montague and Principal Kurt Telford.
Senior Awards Ceremony
The Senior Awards Ceremony was held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Kara Kloiber Make a Difference Award was presented by Bob Kloiber '84 to Nicole Salinas-Reyes '21, who will attend Yale University. 2021 Commencement
Charlotte Catholic High School held its 66th annual Commencement Exercises on May 28, 2021 at Bojangles Coliseum. 274 graduates earned more than $20 million in college scholarships.
Matthew Ruff '21 was validictorian. Matthew will attend the University of Notre Dame.
Jane Corah '21 delivered the salutatory address. Jane will attend The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mr. Tom Mathis, a 1989 graduate of the Naval Academy, recognized Will Detmer '21 for his appointment to the USNA.
Excellence in Teaching Recognized
Mr. Telford presented the Verbesey Award for Excellence in Education to Dr. Lincoln Sigwald of the English Department.  This $10,000 award, given annually by Mr. Herbert Verbesey and in memory of the late Tess Verbesey, was established to reward a teacher who has a record of contagious enthusiasm for classroom teaching, and who stimulates extraordinary accomplishments in students according to their abilities, builds students’ desire to learn, and treats students with dignity and respect.  CCHS was honored to have Mr. Verbesey (pictured above with Principal Telford) join us for this year's commencement exercises.
The Sister Paulette Williams, RSM Awards for Outstanding Service were presented by Mr. Rick Rossitch of the CCHS Foundation. The 2021 winners of these awards were Mrs. Dee Bier (Mathematics), Mrs. Jo Cabana (English), Mr. Kevin Christmas (PE/Health), Mr. Zach Goodier (Theology), and Mr. John Shusdock (Fine Arts).   Each teacher was presented with a check for $5,000.
