June 2019: What's New
Encompass Receives $2 Million in State Funding for New Facility
In late April, the Washington State Legislature voted to approve the budget for next year, which will include $2 million in funding for Encompass Snoqualmie, a new state-of-the-art pediatric therapy center. The money allocated by the state government will go a long way toward the $8.3 million budget for the project.

We have been raising support for Encompass Snoqualmie since 2017. The new planned child-centered space will allow us to increase the number of children served, offer exciting new therapeutic programs, and be a hub for the community.

We will be launching the public phase of their capital campaign later this summer and will be asking for your support support at that time. To learn more, visit the Capital Campaign page of our website or click below to read the full press release about the state funding.
Encompass Parent Talks Podcast to Launch June 25
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Encompass Parent Talks Podcast! The idea for the podcast came from last year's Changemaker series, where design professionals from the Seattle area volunteered their time and talents to work on an outreach challenge for Encompass. Since then, our new Outreach Coordinator Kim Shepard has teamed up with Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator Sam Sinanan to get the podcast off the ground by interviewing parents and our talented team of program professionals.

The podcast's first three episodes will go live on Tuesday, June 25th and a new episode will launch every other Tuesday following the launch.

Blog Post: Playground Activities to Build Healthy Bodies
The park is a great place to allow your kids to play, learn, and move their bodies. Parks provide equipment that will challenge your kid’s strength, coordination, and sensory system. For example, the stairs require them to use the strength of their legs, the swings provide sensory input for their balance and spatial orientation systems, and the climbing walls give them an opportunity to work on coordinating both sides of their body.

Read our blog post by Physical Therapist Abby Choudek to learn about things you can do with your child at the park to help them build strong, healthy bodies!
Opportunities to Play this Summer!

An Encompass therapist will be stopping by local parks this summer for a fun bubble-making activity, geared toward children under age 3 (though older siblings are welcome!).

Join us for an informal gathering for all families who have a child with Down Syndrome served by King County Early Intervention programs.
