June 2017: What's New
Blast off into Summer with Encompass!
School may be ending, but Encompass is not slowing down!

We've still got room in our summer camps for ages 2 to 7, including "Wow Weaving," "Simply Sand," "Rescue Heroes," and "A Galaxy Far Far Away."

Campers during the week of August 7-11 will be decorating a float for participation in the Alpine Days and Snoqualmie Parades on August 12 and 19, respectively.
In addition to the parades, Encompass will be present at several community events around the Snoqualmie Valley this summer, so be sure to stop by and say hello:
  • July 4th, 11:00 am-2:00 pm - circus train at Family 4th of July on Snoqualmie Ridge
  • July 22nd, 12:00-7:30 pm - booth at North Bend Block Party
  • August 19th-20th, 12:00-4:00 pm - Encompass Kids Field of Fun at Railroad Days
Celebrating Creativity
On May 17th and 18th, Encompass preschoolers showcased their creative skills in the annual Art Shows. Parents and loved ones were invited into the classrooms to see what the kids have been making this year using a wide variety of artistic media: paint, markers, colored pencils, collage, and more!
Grateful Parent Pens Heartfelt Note
One of the Encompass Pediatric Therapy programs is Birth to Three Early Intervention, which provides families with in-home assessment, support, and therapy to address developmental delays in young children.

A parent of a child transitioning out of the program wrote the following in a letter to her Family Resource Coordinator:
"I do not know what I am going to do without Nan [Krueger, Occupational Therapist] and you ... I have been seeing Nan for 2.5 years every week. She has been there when I was happy and miserable, smiling and crying, excited and at the end of my rope ... I am as well impressed with Bethany [Andreen, Speech Language Pathologist] and Nicole [Hale, Physical Therapist]. They made a huge difference for my son and I.

He has come so far… he is climbing on his own in bed, on the couch, he uses the stairs properly, he knows a few signs, he uses pictures, and he knows how to tell us what he wants/needs.

When no blood family supported me and my boys, YOU did it! YOU are the ones who know my story.  I am forever grateful! Can’t stop crying, I am profoundly changed for life."
A Visit from the Mexican Consulate in Seattle
On May 31st, Encompass hosted a local visit by representatives from the Mexican Consulate in Seattle. More than 20 people came out for this informative presentation about knowing your rights as an immigrant and how to prepare for emergencies.
Challenger Baseball in Full Swing
Snoqualmie Valley Little League's Challenger Baseball gives children with special needs a chance to participate in team sports. With typically-developing peer buddies, the players are learning how to throw, bat, catch, and run the bases! Encompass is a proud sponsor of Challenger Baseball, and our Community Outreach Manager Marsha Quinn (center) is coaching the team along with Reggie, one of the parents.

Remembering John Castle, Encompass Board Member Emeritus
Longtime Encompass Board Member and Emeritus Board Member Dr. John Castle passed away on May 6, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

John was a beloved Board member with a tremendous intellect and mischievous sense of humor. He used his considerable talents and experience as a successful entrepreneur to guide Encompass in the development of our Pediatric Therapy Clinic seven years ago. The Pediatric Therapy Clinic is the only multi-disciplinary therapy clinic in the Snoqualmie Valley and has served over 1,000 children with high quality therapy since its inception.

The Castles are an “Encompass family.” Not only did all of John’s local grandchildren participate in Encompass programs, but his daughter-in-law, Claudia, is a current Board Member and enthusiastic volunteer.

We are so grateful for all John contributed to us in more than a decade of volunteering with Encompass. His presence and contributions will live on through the programs and services offered at Encompass.
John Castle was an Encompass Board Member for many years
