Message from Deni
June, 2015
Dear Friends,

Happy June! As many of you are aware, the spring of 2015 was a very intense time for the Prince George's County Council. The Council recently  adopted a $3.5 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2016 on Thursday, May 28, 2015. The Fiscal Year 2016 Budget will become effective on July 1, 2015. Following the budget adoption, in an effort to remain committed to the betterment of the citizens of Prince George's County, on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, the Council approved Council Bill 7-2015, which establishes a property tax credit for the installation of accessibility enhancements on an existing primary residence. Council Bill 7-2015 provides homeowners with a tax credit equal to 50% of eligible costs, or $2,500 for an eligible accessibility feature installed on an existing principal residence. Council Bill 7- 2015 provides a financial incentive for installing features that make a home more accessible for disabled residents and seniors. This legislation, along with many additional pieces of legislation slated to be introduce during the 2015 legislative year will continue to meet the needs of Prince George's County residents during these tough economic times. I encourage you and your friends to remain civically engaged as there will be a number of important legislative priorities that will be addressed.

This summer, I remain committed to staying engaged with the residents of the District 2 community as I plan to attend a number of your upcoming parades, festivals and events. Tomorrow, June 6, 2015, I will be participating in the Brentwood Day parade beginning at 11:00 am at Thomas Stone Elementary located at 4500 34th Street Mount Rainier, MD 20712. Along with the parade I will be hosting an information table at Bartlett Park where you are invited to come and fellowship with me and my staff during this fun-filled day of events.

There are a number of exciting projects occurring throughout the District 2 community that I look forward to sharing with you.  Please enjoy this month's E-News and use it as a convenient reference for updates about things happening in our community and interesting events for you and your to family attend. If you have information that you would like to see included in future newsletters that will be beneficial to other residents, please email the information to
