2021-2022 Professional Development Calendar Year is Coming to a Close
We hope to see you at some of our upcoming training sessions before we take a short break for the summer. Child Care Aware holds trainings from September through June, starting in July we will be preparing for our 2022-2023 training season. A quick reminder that training times in NHCIS have been updated to reflect the correct training times.

We urge you to plan ahead and sign up for our upcoming sessions if you need them to satisfy the Granite Steps for Quality requirements or your annual professional development hours!
Child Care Aware of NH is Hiring!
Do you have experience supporting a knowledgeable and passionate Team of Individuals? Are you seeking an opportunity to implement systems-based thinking and strengths-based delivery of services? Do you have experience in any of the New Hampshire State Early Learning Initiatives? Southern New Hampshire Services' Child Care Aware of NH is seeking a Lead Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator (LTTAC) to join our team. Our Lead Training and Technical Assistance Coordinators are responsible for supervising and empowering our Training & Technical Assistance Specialists as they support Early Childhood programs in our Statewide model. Ideal candidates:
  • have advanced early childhood experience
  • have strong communication skills
  • are comfortable presenting to large audiences
  • have a strong technical knowledge of databases & technology
  • can demonstrate leadership qualities.
Need Training for Granite Steps for Quality?
Child Care Aware of NH, a program of Southern NH Services, will be offering additional Intro and Overview of ERS professional development opportunities this summer! There will be four (4) training sessions held over the months of July and August, with afternoon and evening options.

Intro and Overview of the
Environment Rating Scales (ERS)
This training is an introduction and overview of the Environment Rating Scales. The training will provide basic
information on the Environment Rating Scales, how to use the tools and the benefits of using the tools in
your classrooms and program.

The Bureau of Child Development and Head Start Collaboration has been working to keep you all updated on the Non-CCDF COVID Absentee Billing and the Pay by Enrollment Program. You can find these updates under Financial Resources within the "Pay by Enrollment" and "Absent Due to COVID" Tabs.
NON-CCDF COVID Absentee Billing Has Been Extended
On May 2, 2022 The Bureau of Child Development and Head Start Collaboration made the announcement that Absent Due to Covid Billing policy would be extended for CCDF and non-CCDF children from May 30 through September 4, 2022.

Are you looking for Absent Due to COVID Invoicing Spreadsheets? You can find them on our Financial Resources page! To access them, click on "Absent Due to COVID" from the menu on the left-side of the page. There you will find the latest invoicing spreadsheets, along with any other important updates.

QRIS: Granite Steps for Quality (GSQ) News
On May 26th, the Bureau of Child Development and Head Start Collaboration issued an announcement about Granite Steps for Quality pertaining to the application process. To more efficiently process applications and award Quality Steps, there is a temporary pause in the use of NHCIS for Credentialing applications and GSQ applications; paper applications will be used until the fall.
The first Tuesday of every month will feature an open call with the Bureau of Child Development and Head Start Collaboration as they discuss all topics GSQ!

The next call will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 12:30-1:30 pm, all Child Care and Out-of-School Time providers are welcome! Please bring GSQ questions with you to the Zoom meeting. They will be inviting their collaborative partners monthly to discuss GSQ Pathways as they continue to build the GSQ system!

The NH Child Care Licensing Website Has Been Updated
The NH DHHS website was recently updated, which means that the NH Child Care Licensing website underwent some changes. To find important documents, licensing rules, and more, you can visit their new website here or by clicking the button below.
Do you or any of your staff need to have fingerprinting done? You can now schedule an appointment online using the Department of Safety CHRI Applicant Portal. To find directions on how to schedule an appointment and what you will need to bring with you, click here.

Formula Shortage Resources
There’s nothing as important to families as the health and safety of their babies, and the formula shortage has left many people feeling anxious about how they’ll feed them. Some young children, teens, and adults with medical needs also rely on formula for their nutrition. They may be impacted by the shortage, too. Take a look at some of these resources to share with any families being affected by the formula shortage.
News That Keeps You Healthy and Safe
Tick Free NH
Did you know that as long as the ground isn't frozen, ticks are active? Ticks are small insects that can become a big problem. They can carry bacteria and illnesses like Lyme disease, so prevention is important. 
  • Clear tall grasses and brush around buildings and at the edge of lawns
  • Mow lawns frequently and keep all leaves raked
  • Keep play equipment away from yard edges and trees, and place in direct sunlight if possible
  • Always do a tick check after spending time outdoors
