June is National Fruit and Vegetable Month!

June is the peak season for produce, so it is no surprise that it is also National Fruit and Vegetable Month! Now is a great time to take advantage of all the fresh fruits and vegetables that will be higher in flavor and nutrients, as they are being picked closer to peak ripeness. By now, you have probably noticed Farmer’s Markets starting to pop up all over and this is an excellent, convenient way to have access to fresh produce. Buying from Farmer’s Markets also helps to support local farmers and ensure your fresh fruits and veggies come right from the farm to your table. Check out the SNAP-Ed NY Farmers Market video series to learn how to shop healthy, smart, and affordably at the farmers market this summer; and, below are a few healthy and nutritious fruit and vegetable recipes that you can try out!
