DRAFT FY 2024-28 Transportation Improvement Program

The SCTPO is currently soliciting public comments on its DRAFT Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for Fiscal Years 2023-2027. The TIP is a staged program encompassing a five-year period consisting of all regionally significant transportation improvements to all modes of travel in Brevard County. The TIP identifies projects for maintaining and improving the transportation system funded by federal and state sources.

DRAFT 2023 List of Project Priorities |
|

|
The SCTPO recently developed the DRAFT 2023 List of Project Priorities (LOPP). Every year, SCTPO staff develops a draft List of Project Priorities through their annual call for projects, project prioritization process, and coordination with local agencies. The list builds upon the previous year’s priorities of roadway, technology, trail, and bicycle and pedestrian projects.
The 2023 DRAFT List and Maps of Project Priorities are now available for public review. The list will be presented to the SCTPO Governing Board on July 13, 2023.

2023 Taking Action Together Workshop Recap |

On June 14, 2023, SCTPO Vision Zero Project Manager, Shelby Villatoro, coordinated our Vision Zero: Taking Action Together Workshop, which focused on ways to move the needle of Vision Zero toward action through strategic implementation strategies that prioritize safety for all road users.
Thanks to all our local transportation planners, safety advocates, engineers, technical consultants, citizens, municipal representatives, elected officials, and law enforcement officers who were able to join!

#InTheCommunity: SCTPO Visits Space Port for Staff Retreat |

Our 2023 Annual SCTPO Staff Retreat was outta this world! Earlier this month, our incredible modal partner, Space Florida, led a behind-the-scenes tour of our spaceport where we got an inside look into current commercial space developments. We had lunch at Port Canaveral to see another mode of transportation and wrapped our day up by discussing our mission and vision. Through this experience, our staff was able to bridge the connections of how we work with our partners, stakeholders, and community to ensure that we are advancing transportation together.

Earlier this month, the Melbourne Orlando International Airport celebrated the grand opening of the Hyatt Place Hotel ! Utopia of the Seas to Homeport at Port Canaveral in 2024 |

"Royal Caribbean International has announced its new ship, Utopia of the Seas, will homeport year-round at Port Canaveral beginning July 2024. This magnificent Oasis-class ship, the first in its class to be fueled by liquefied natural gas (LNG), will embark on 3- and 4-day journeys to Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in The Bahamas. Utopia will join her sister ships, Wonder of the Seas and Voyager-class Adventure of the Seas when she arrives next year, establishing Port Canaveral as the homeport for two of the world’s largest three ships." Regional, Local Transportation Officials Celebrate
NASA Causeway Bridge East Bound Span Opening
|
|
Recently, SCTPO Executive Director, Georganna Gillette, and senior staff celebrated the milestone completion of the momentous improvement project on the NASA Causeway Bridge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially opening the new eastbound span of the bridge to motorists.
The SCTPO helped foster communication between the major modal partners and provided input on the application for INFRA Grant, which was ultimately selected to help fund this project. We look forward to this essential infrastructure improvement that will impact the future of space!

We had a fantastic time partnering with Space Coast Area Transit to celebrate Brevard County Public Libraries' 2023 Summer Reading Kick-Off Party, this past Saturday! We chatted with lots of parents and kiddos about how to stay safe on our roadways, this summer, and we passed out safety resources and goodies! We loved when our families signed our safety pledge.

Annual Summit of Seven
Boys + Men Conference

We loved supporting the 2023 Annual Summit of Seven Foundation, Inc. Boys and Men Conference at Eastern Florida State College. Where we provided safety resources and goodies for the 300+ young ones in attendance and we fit and distributed 17 FREE helmets for door prize winners and other guests in need.

SCTPO's Summer Bike Rodeos |
We've been doing our part to promote bike safety this summer by organizing a series of bicycle rodeos throughout the county. These events are aimed at educating children and adults on proper biking techniques, including hand signals, helmet safety, and rules of the road. By promoting bike safety, the SCTPO hopes to encourage more people to choose cycling as a sustainable and healthy means of transportation. |
