This summer, families have a new way to keep healthy food on the table! SUN Bucks is the USDA’s Summer EBT program, designed to help families with school-aged children access groceries while school is out.
Eligible families will receive $120 per child—distributed as $40 per month over the summer. For example, a family with one child will receive $120, while a household with three children will receive $360 in total benefits.
SUN Bucks can be used just like SNAP benefits at grocery stores, convenience stores, farmers’ markets, and other approved retailers. Families can purchase everyday essentials such as milk, bread, fruits, vegetables, and snacks, making it easier to provide nutritious options all summer long.
Not sure where to use your benefits? The USDA offers an online tool to help you find participating stores near you.
This new program is a great opportunity to support children’s nutrition and help families stretch their grocery budgets during the summer months.
