Let’s talk about SUMMER! There are so many summertime sounds, from crickets at night and the sound of cars driving along the road, to birds chirping in the morning and families playing together. With your little one, talk about all of the summer sounds you hear!

EARLY ON

Outdoor play in June isn’t just fun—it’s crucial for social skills. Early intervention promotes turn-taking and peer interaction through play, even with simple games like catch.

If you have concerns or questions about your child's development please contact Amy Vallad, BAISD Early On Coordinator at vallada@baisd.net or (989) 262-4182

UNPLUG & PLAY GREAT LAKES BAY

Maggie Dwan

Screens can be helpful. They can give families a break, help during busy moments, or be part of a routine. The Digital Diet is not about being perfect or getting rid of screens. It is about making sure there is still plenty of room for the things children need most: play, sleep, movement, talking, and time with the people who love them.

This week, try two or three small screen-free moment:

Read one book together

Play music and dance

Take a short walk

Keep phones off the table during one meal

Talk in the car

Play outside for 10 minutes

Ask, “What was the best part of your day?”

Small moments together can make a big difference.
