Though things may have slowed down for some of us over the past couple of weeks, there's plenty going on in the community we want you to be aware of. The purpose of this communication is to build greater awareness and connection to local resources. WORLD'S LARGEST SWIMMING LESSON: 6.22.17
Everyone is invited to the Eden Prairie Community Center next Thursday evening for a FREE swimming lesson taking place at various locations worldwide on June 22nd. Ages 7 and younger must have an adult in the pool with them. Arrive at 5:45 pm for important instructions. View more details on the City's Events Calendar.
DENTAL CLINIC: 6.28.17
myHealth for Teens & Young Adults in Hopkins is hosting a low-cost dental clinic for children, teens, young adults up to age 26, and pregnant women on Wednesday, June 28th from 9 am - 4 pm. Though Children's Dental Services accepts all forms of insurance, an income-based sliding fee scale will be used to determine costs.  See the Dental Services Flyer for more details.  

I ❤ MY NEIGHBOR INTERFAITH EVENT: 6.28.17

On Wednesday, June 28th the Interfaith Circle will host the second of its series of  community conversations designed to connect citizens of the southwest metro across faith lines. “Who is my neighbor?” will include a panel of faith leaders from five great spiritual traditions , followed by an opportunity for conversation among attendees.  The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:30 pm at the Eden Prairie Community Center. "I ❤ My Neighbor" yard signs will be available to attendees. More details are available on this event flyer
4TH OF JULY HOMETOWN CELEBRATION: 7.3.17 & 7.4.17
Kick off your 4th of July celebration with music, entertainment, beach and splash pad activities, bingo, beer, and food starting Monday, July 3rd at Round Lake Park. Come back for a full day's worth of fun on Tuesday, July 4th with free entertainmentfood, activities, fireworks, and more! Check out the full schedule of events on the City's Events Calendar. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IMPACT COUNCIL MEETING: 7.20.17
Save the date for the next meeting of the Community Engagement Impact Council (CEIC), which will be on Thursday, July 20th from 4:00 - 5:30 pm. Learn more about the CEIC on Community Ed's website.
COMMUNITY DIALOG WITH DR. JEFF DUNCAN-ANDRADE: 8.29.17
Dr. Jeff Duncan-Andrade, a national expert on community responsive education and founder of the Roses in Concrete School, will be returning to Eden Prairie to help the district kick off the school year and facilitate a community dialog on equity on Thursday, August 29th. More information to follow!
CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE’S OFFICE OF HOUSING & COMMUNITY SERVICES FUNDING OPPORTUNITY NOW OPEN
Information about the City’s Office of Housing & Community Services’ General Fund Human Services Grant is available online and the RFP, due June 30th, can be downloaded from the City’s website.
SW TRANSIT SUMMER ADVENTURES PROGRAM
Join SouthWest Transit on a new adventure every Tuesday throughout the summer. Transportation is provided to a variety of fun attractions across the Twin Cities. Round-Trip fares are $2 for adults and $1 for kids. More information and the schedule of destinations are available on SouthWest Transit’s website
SEWA-AIFW OFFERS FREE HEALTH CLINICS 
SEWA-Asian Indian Family Wellness welcomes all to free monthly health clinics offered at three different sites throughout the Twin Cities. Visit SEWA-AIFW’s website for more information.
DISCOUNTED SUMMER BUS PASSES FOR STUDENTS

Eden Prairie High School students (and 2017 grads) can get a summer's worth of rides on buses and light rail for just $25 with the Summer Student Pass! Though these must be purchased through Metro Transit, which serves the broader Twin Cities area, passes work on SouthWest Transit routes as well. OFFICE OF HOUSING & COMMUNITY HOUSING WELCOMES MEGAN YERKS
Megan Yerks recently joined the City of Eden Prairie as a Community Services Coordinator. In her role, Megan will help ensure that Eden Prairie residents have robust access to quality community services. Before joining the City, Megan worked with youth experiencing homelessness in Bloomington, Richfield and Edina at Oasis for Youth. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Family Social Science and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Welcome, Megan!
HOST HOMES NEEDED TO SUPPORT HOMELESS YOUTH

Every night in Minnesota, 6,000 youth are homeless and on their own. The Minneapolis and Suburban Host Home Program of Avenues for Homeless Youth is an outside of the system response to youth homelessness. This community-based program recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteer hosts who open their home and hearts to youth experiencing homelessness. Avenues is currently in need of hosts to support 10 youth in this program. SCHOOL SUPPLIES DONATIONS NEEDED

Donations are needed to support the annual community-driven process for providing school supplies to students in need. Visit the Family Resources Program Back-to-School Supplies page to learn where supplies can be dropped off. Contact Molly Patil to learn how you or your organization can help.
