What is a Limited Submission?

A limited submission solicitation places a cap on the number of proposals Auburn may submit to a sponsor. Auburn coordinates limited submissions with notifications via this newsletter and competitions created in the Auburn University Competition Space (InfoReady). To apply to any limited submission posted in this newsletter, click on the link within the announcement. Please refer to the Limited Submission Procedures page for a general list of requirements.

If you find an opportunity of interest contact the PSFS office sooner than later so that an internal competition can be created for a timely, university-wide, fair and equitable selection process that allows for ample time for review, feedback and revisions.

DOE & Techwerx: Partnerships for Academic-Industry Career Training (PACT) Initiative

The goal of the PACT initiative is to increase the number of highly skilled individuals entering the American energy workforce. Programs shall train for occupations that address a regional need for workforce in at least one of the following technology areas:


• Integration, safe use, and maintenance of oil, natural gas, coal, or geothermal energy technologies
• Using CO2 to improve hydrocarbon recovery
• Produced water treatment and disposal
• Power generation for data centers or remote operations
• Technologies that enable any of the above technology areas, including but not limited to:

1. Construction related to the building-out of facilities or infrastructure
2. Applying and using artificial intelligence and machine learning
3. Geographic information systems

Each consortium will choose between the two topic areas :

• Topic A - Enhance: Applicants seeking resources to enhance their existing training program(s) or reorient them to focus on energy careers.
• Topic B - Establish: Applicants seeking resources to establish a new training program to focus on energy careers.

Institutional Limit: One Application

Russell Sage Foundation: Behavioral Science and Decision Making in Context

This program encourages perspectives from multiple disciplines, including economics, psychology, political science, sociology, law, public policy, and other social sciences, to further our understanding of economic, social, political, and psychological decision-making processes, attitudes, behaviors, and institutional practices in public and private contexts such as policing/criminal legal systems, employment, housing, politics, racial/ethnic relations, and immigration.

William T. Grant Foundation: Improving the Use of Research Evidence

This program funds research that advances understanding and tests strategies to improve the use, usefulness, and impact of research evidence in decision-making affecting young people ages 5–25 in the United States. The Foundation seeks projects that either build or test strategies to enhance the use of research evidence by policymakers, public agency leaders, organizational managers, intermediaries, community organizers, and other key decision-makers in youth-serving systems. The Foundation is particularly interested in research that addresses politically charged or contested youth issues, explores mechanisms and conditions for effective research use, and investigates the impact of research use on youth outcomes.

American Heart Association

Institutional Award for Undergraduate Student Training

This award supports institutions in providing undergraduate students across all disciplines with meaningful research experiences aligned with the American Heart Association's mission, fostering interest in research careers with a focus on cardiovascular health and higher education.

Institutional Research Enhancement Award (AIREA)

The purpose of the award is to support small-scale research projects related to cardiovascular diseases and brain health at educational institutions that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees but that have not been major recipients of NIH support. The award supports any part of the full range of basic, clinical and population research and development. The goals of the program are to:

• support meritorious research,
• expose students to research,
• strengthen the research environment of the institution.

PCORI - Cycle 3 2026 Opportunities

Broad Pragmatic Studies Funding 
This is funding for high-impact, patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) projects.

Improving Methods for Conducting Patient-Centered Comparative Clinical Effectiveness Research

PCORI seeks to fund studies that address high-impact methodological gaps in patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER).

Addressing Substance Use 
PCORI is particularly interested in applications focusing on substance use/misuse and substance use disorders in populations with high incidence, prevalence or burden, or that experience lower access to or effectiveness of interventions.

Implementation of Findings from PCORI's Research Investments
PCORI seeks to fund implementation projects that promote the uptake of peer-reviewed findings from specific PCORI-funded patient-centered comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) in the context of the body of related evidence. This PFA is an open competition opportunity for principal investigators to propose implementation projects that move evidence toward practical use in improving health care and health outcomes.

Advancing the Science of Engagement in Research
This PFA seeks research on 1) measures or assessment strategies to capture structure or context, process and outcomes of engagement in research; 2) methods that lead to meaningful engagement in research and 3) how effective engagement methods should be modified and resourced for different contexts, settings and communities.  

Addressing Health Outcomes for Individuals With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and/or Rare Diseases (RD)
This PFA will solicit applications proposing to address patient-centered CER questions that will fill important IDD and/or RD research gaps. IDD and RD comprise a diverse group of conditions with a variety of lived experiences, even among people who have the same diagnosis.

CCTS: Summer Translational Research Summer Series

Hanover GLC Modules for NIH, NSF-CAREER & Grant Development


The Hanover Research Grants Learning Center (GLC) on-demand grant development training portal offers faculty enrollees the unique opportunity to receive targeted training through self-paced, interactive modules with step-by-step guidance and templates for prospective applicants to develop compelling proposals. Alabama Department of Economic & Community Affairs (ADECA): Alabama Research & Development Enhancement Fund (ARDEF)

The purpose of the ARDEF Program is to encourage new and continuing efforts to conduct research and development activities within the state. The Fund is designated to receive appropriations from the legislature, or from the receipt of gifts, grants, or federal funds to be expended for the purpose of increasing employment opportunities and products and services available to the citizens of Alabama. Proposed applicants must demonstrate the potential to improve employment opportunities and products and services available in Alabama through new and continuing research and development activities.

*This program requires a cost match.The required matching funds shall be cash, grants, or contracts specifically provided for the proposed research project. State funds cannot be used as match.
