The Cultivator - June 2023
June Garden
Ten Tomato Pasta Sauce
Triple Tool Giveaway
The CobraHead Newsletter
Wow, what a June. This is the driest summer we've had in many years. On top of that, we've been dealing with very unhealthy air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. For Canada's sake and ours, let's hope for a little more rain soon.

Despite the weather and smoky air, Noel's veggie garden is coming along really well. He's had to do a lot of supplemental watering, but the harvest is starting to come in. And since tomato season will soon be upon us, Judy shares a pasta sauce recipe to help you use up some of that tomato bounty.

Hey, here's a nice thing that happened recently: I noticed that the shipping cost the customer had been charged was unnecessarily high for their order. It turns out our shipping software assumed the items would need to be sent in several boxes. However, I was able to pack everything in one box and reduce the cost significantly. I then emailed the customer to say that I was refunding most of the shipping cost back to them. I received the following reply:

"Awesome tools and real people who follow up with awesome customer service? CobraHead is even better than I thought. Thanks for being thoughtful and honest in a world of disconnected businesses." --T.M, Corvallis, OR

Well, shucks! Yes, we are real people, and we really care that our customers are getting the best possible products and service that we can provide. And we thank you for helping us continue this business that we love.

Don't forget to enter our monthly giveaway (just reply to this email and request to be entered). As always, feel free to leave us any additional comments when you do!

Most of the heavy work is done and we're starting to enjoy the full bounty of the garden.
Now, it's mostly about weeding and watering.

Judy read a book: Ten
Tomatoes That Changed the World. Here's her recipe for a tomato sauce that uses at least ten of the many varieties we grow.

“A tree is our most intimate contact with nature.”
― George Nakashima

I love neighborhoods and streets with lots of shade and big mature trees. Canopies of green are beautiful and enchanting; they connect us to the natural world in all seasons. They shelter wildlife. They keep us cool on summer days. They sway gently in the breeze. They breathe for us.

Streets can look good with minimal trees, but a majestic cathedral of green really elevates your neighborhood to the next level. Below are a few simple, well-kept houses that are enhanced by the presence of mature trees in the front yards. I’m so happy and thankful that trees exist and that we get to live among them!
