Welcome to June.
Summer solstice brings us the longest days of the year. In Alaska I loved working in the garden as it never got dark. We'd go to our cabin on a lake and would be swimming or water skiing into the evening. We did miss the stars, it never got dark enough to see them.
We don't have a lot of holidays in June as with other months but we do honor Fathers Day. There are some military remembrances, D Day, and Flag day. So another opportunity to thank those who serve our country.
The shop has been busy with visitors to our state who have the "local yarn shop" on their itinerary. They are always looking for something to remind them of Arizona. We were able to find some yarns by Arucania that are the colors of our landscape. Some have arrived with more to come.
Several of us are working on our summer tees. I've included a picture of one of mine. I started two. I am knitting the Suri Shirt by Caidree. It is a loose comfortable tee with attention to shaping the shoulders to have a good fit. Some short row work. The front and back of the neckline are knit separately and then joined in the round at the armhole. I'm using Mirasol's Inka, which is a blend of viscose, plant fiber and baby alpaca. It is soft, light and has a nice drape.
This past two weeks I have met with some of my yarn distributors for new fall and winter yarns. It is always challenging to be thinking of fall and winter yarns in May. I did select for summer, a cotton, viscose dk weight yarn. I am also bringing in some of the Madelinetosh line. I love adding a well known and loved yarn. We will not see that until fall.
I hope everyone can find a way to keep cool this month and still enjoy Arizona.
PS: The puppies are growing and are getting long and gangly. Gunner can now get up on the couch, big boy.. Rose has learned she can reach the kitchen counter, naughty girl. We have moved so many things that it looks like we were robbed. The puppy adventures go on.
Happy fibering,
Linda K
