Our Heroes Start Here recruitment campaign is ready to leap tall buildings! And so are our Cub Scouts, Leaders and their Packs! Look for your District to host a special kick-off during their August Round Table; and make sure to schedule a time with your District Director or District Executive to check out handbooks and capes for your new Scouts.

Has your pack taken on the challenges to receive handbooks and capes for new Scouts? In addition to being more powerful than a locomotive, Cub Scout units needed to attend the 2019 Fall Membership Recruiting Webinar back in May (if you missed this, schedule a meeting with your Membership Chair to review the material). Ensure you have a New Member Coordinator (NMC) registered and trained, and plan and commit to host a Join Night.

Fire Mountain Scout Camp
NYLT is a six day experience conducted by Mount Baker Council to provide each young man or woman with a meaningful experience in Scouting that will enhance his knowledge and create a deeper understanding of his or her role and responsibilities as a leader.

Hiking season is well under way, with summer camping just weeks away. What should every Hiker, Backpacker, or Camper, carry? At least the 10 essentials. The “official” 10 essentials list is different depending on what resource you use (Backpacker Magazine; The Boy Scout Handbook, etc)…don’t get caught up on which “official” list is the right one…in fact it might be fun to give your Den or Patrol a bag of 15-20 items and let them determine what would be in their 10 essentials from the items given. Let them discuss the pros and cons of each item. Visit the link for to learn about the 10 Essentials as described in The Scout Handbook. How many did you know?

Conservation Good Turn
Since 1910, conservation has been an integral part of the program of the Boy Scouts of America. The BSA has been a positive force in conservation and environmental efforts. Scouts have rendered distinguished public service by helping to conserve wildlife, energy, forests, soil, and water. Past generations of Scouts have been widely recognized for undertaking conservation Good Turn action projects in their local communities.

Make Your Voice Heard on
June 4th

June 4 th marks the 100 th anniversary of Congress passing the 19th Amendment – a historic moment and an important step that empowered all citizens’ voices to be heard.
We invite all Scouts to write a letter to Congress about a national issue that's important to them. This fulfills a requirement for the Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge.

Scouts who wish to participate must email their letters to a Congressional representative on June 4 and copy
STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
STEM is part of an initiative the Boy Scouts of America has taken on to encourage the natural curiosity of youth members and their sense of wonder about these fields through existing programs. From archery to welding, Scouts can’t help but enjoy the wide range of STEM-related activities. To support this initiative, the BSA developed the STEM Nova Awards program so that youth members have fun and receive recognition for their efforts.

We live in a time of great opportunity. The spirit of innovation can help us overcome challenges and ensure a prosperous and secure future. To seize this opportunity, we must position ourselves at the cutting edge of scientific discovery and technological innovation.

How to log volunteer hours in
new Boeing Community
Engagement Portal:

Some changes have been made to the way volunteer hours are logged into the Boeing Engagement Portal but the process is still easy and worthwhile.

Don't forget about our Volunteer Hours Incentive Plan specifically for Boeing employees.

Congratulations Jason Clark

Jason Clark, a member of the Mount Baker Council Executive Board, has been named the new Boeing Vice President and General Manager of the 777 airplane program. Clothe our Camp Staff!

Summer is just around the corner, which means fireworks, sunny days, and Scout Camp are on the horizon! We’ve recruited a fantastic camp staff for Fire Mountain this summer, and they’re eager to get to camp and get started.

Uniform donations can be dropped off at the Council Service Centers in Everett or Bellingham. Thank you for your consideration, and your support of the Fire Mountain Camp Staff!

Order of the Arrow News

Brothers, summer has arrived, but before we head into the coming days, let us take a few moments to see what we’ve been up to.

At the end of April, we had the unique opportunity to send a group of arrowmen to the National Leadership Seminar, an event put on by the Region Chief (our very own Antonyo Mitchell) and his Advisers. The region had selected Camp Pigott to host the event, making it quite accessible for those a part of Sikhs Mox Lamonti.

Shooting Activities for Scouts

By Paul Visocky

This month I have decided to discuss what shooting sports activities are available for Scouts and how some of them may be accomplished at Fire Mountain.

Before I get into that I thought that I would discuss how those activities are even possible. Let's start with this organization, Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the Mount Baker Council. It is, as we all know, a non-profit organization bent on corrupting youth minds with good morals, ethics and positive attitudes emphasizing safe fun.

World Scout Jamboree
Visitor Passes

This summer get a taste of the worldwide fellowship of Scouting without even leaving the country.
Day passes for the 2019 World Scout Jamboree are now available, giving everyone a chance to experience this summer’s global gathering of Scouts.
If your summer plans don’t involve attending the World Scout Jamboree or serving on staff (known as the International Service Team), point your compass to the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
Jamboree visitors can sample unique food, learn about other cultures and meet Scouts from the more than 150 countries represented. They’ll also be part of a World Scouting tradition that began in 1920 with the first World Scout Jamboree.
