Greetings,

Success is measured by many factors. For the Lansing Community College and Purdue ISP Conference and Workshop in May 2016, it was the staff and administrators at LCC, Purdue, and Ivy Tech Community College, along with a great cast of speakers and presenters, that contributed to a successful event.
Thanks to all those who worked to make the Lansing Community College and Purdue ISP Conference and Workshop a success and contributed to outstanding evaluations by the conference and workshop attendees. Whether or not you were able to attend, we hope you enjoy reading our re-cap of the ISP event through the presentations and photos in this newsletter.

Presentations at the ISP Conference
Dr. Robert Connor opened the morning session of the ISP conference with an introduction, followed by presentations with a focus on the research of riveted structures. After a hardy lunch and a short bus trip, Dr. Connor and Jason Lloyd led the conference participants on tours of the Bowen Lab and the twenty two acre S-BRITE Center.

A tour through Purdue's large cavernous Bowen Lab led by Dr. Robert Connor and Purdue students and staff was an impressive show on the first day of the Iron & Steel Preservation Conference. Large steel beams strapped in huge testing devices towered above the conference participants. Scattered about the floor of the lab were spent test samples, and
of special interest were the massive sections of the infamous failed I-35W Mississippi River Bridge from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

S-BRITE Center Tour
Wednesday, May 18, 2016
As we stepped off the bus at S-BRITE Center the view was striking. Above the Indiana horizon was a sharp blue cloud-scattered sky, below the horizon sitting on twenty two acres of land were large steel sections of bridges displayed on massive concrete piers: teaching tools, as Dr. Connor refers to them.

Jason Lloyd was Lansing Community College's main contact at Purdue. Thanks for the professionalism shown in addressing the questions and requests asked by the LCC conference coordinators. Lloyd was especially helpful in working with the LCC welding staff in setting up demonstrations at the Purdue Bowen Lab.
