Check your mailboxes for our summer appeal letter

The envelopes are out the door and with the Postal Service (if you're lucky, you received one of the handsome Bald Eagle life cycle stamps, available from USPS).

Our annual appeal letter is the primary source of our funding. It keeps the lights on, the organization staffed, and the day-to-day operations covered so that we can apply for grants, make partnerships, and be available to the community.

Your contribution - of any amount - is appreciated. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 187 in Culver, while an online option is available via PayPal. If you need a reminder of what level you donated last year, or to update contact information, simply e-mail, call, or text us. LMEF, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Included with the the mailings is our "Your 2025 Gifts At Work" flyer (digitally available here).

Please fill out this form to register. Looking forward to riding with you all!

Pictured: At our 2023 EcoLoop ride, Marshall County Recycle Depot staff demonstrate how we use macroinvertebrates (aka little stream critters) to assess the quality of our streams.

The LMEF office has been so blessed to receive its 2026 Allen Chesser Memorial Intern... the late Allen's own granddaughter and Culver Community graduate, Katie Schouten.

Also, LMEF President Adam Thada had a pretty big wildlife day last week. Sometimes, the stars just align. Either that, or it was residual luck from his special assistant... read "A Wildlife Hat Trick, Twice!".

"Ask Lyn: Safe and Clean Recreation" Our friends over at the Watershed Foundation published some great, simple tips on how to responsibly recreate on our beloved lakes. Loving a lake doesn't mean leaving it completely alone, but we do need to be mindful of how we enjoy it. Read more.

An American Robin has nested in the Ginko tree just outside the LMEF office. Mama is visible from our front porch, currently doing the work of incubating the three blue eggs. She appreciates it if you admire her work from at least 10 feet distant.
